Sympathy Call

Looks like I'll be hanging out here awhile. I apparently strained my lower back while working on my latest project. we are installing a small patio in the back yard. Worked all day yesterday clearing and leveling the area (11 foot circle, 5.5 ft diameter). Took the good turf and repaired a couple of spots where the grass had died. Everything was prepped and ready to go for this morning.

Then less than 10 minutes into the job this morning, the wheel barrow started to tip and I tried to stop it. Word of advice: if the wheelbarrow starts to tip, let it tip!

Anyway. I took a flexaril and soaked in really hot water for an hour. I'll stay in bed for the rest of today, and hold off on the patio until next weekend. :( I have a big bald circle in my beautiful back yard.

I really like that statement and I shall remember it. It could be applied to so many different scenarios, with, or indeed, without a wheelbarrow

In the meantime, look after yourself well, Acc, the back yard will wait, it's you who needs the attention at the moment.

And, seriously all kidding aside... go to your local sports club and pay for a sports massage: ask them to concentrate on your back.

I ain't given you no sympathy bud, suck it up and drive on!

Hope ya feel better... try a beer.
Wha'??? :-2

I guess I should stop by the fruity bar and get a banana smoothy while I'm there, eh? Freakin' Californians.

I'm sure that wildcat that jumped out of the tree onto your back while you held the wheelbarrow in one hand and the wildcat in the other till you submitted it to re-release it into the wild had something to do with it.

This stuff happens to me all the time. Take it easy bud.:-6

Thanks, man. The bedroom window perfectly fraamed the bags of cement dumped on the ground. I'll try to remember to post pics next weekend when I finish the job.

And so it begins, the "beating up of the body" now, that will come back to haunt you in your later on years! "Hire" someone to do the bull work, you'll be glad you did, trust me! :wah:

Thanks guys. This muscle relaxer is good stuff! I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight, though.

My beloved wants to give me a massage but she has tiny bony fingers. OW!

My BIL has some kind of degenerative bone disease in his back & has had a few fusion ops and other stuff. This is small potatoes compared to that.

Yeah, I have arthritis in my facet joints..the back fusion did nothing, but the neck one helped a lot. So don't push it Ac, you don't want to have to have something like that done...I was in a hospital bed in my livingroom for 3 months. Just be careful...back injuries are nothing to mess with. Injuries can cause arthrits...I hurt mine when I was 16...now at 44 it's a nightmare. Don't take the Flexeril before you do something, if you're not feeling it in your back you could injure it more. (I've been on Flexeril for about 2 years). Just take it easy!!!:-6

Lots of sympathy from me. And a reminder to not let the pain killers let you forget that you are injured. Let it heal fully before you embark on another adventure in finding out how old you are. ;)

Shut the curtains, look in the help wanted section and hire some to do the work. Glad your feeling better but it will take a long time to heal. Just lifing the wheel barrel may cause re-injury. :-5
