My only concern would be about security if you live in a densly populated area. I know of one acquaintance who hwne he set up his sister's new lap top with Wi Fi capability immediately connected to the neighbors WiFi set up without even trying.

I have wireless networking in my household. If you purchase a router such as mine, you will receive up to 54 Mbps speeds, which is plenty. I doubt you get those kinds of speeds from your ISP to begin with, so no real limit there (average from a broadband ISP is something like 3.5 Mbps). You will definitely want to secure your network with a password, though, so that the scenario mentioned by Hagar does not happen to you. Unsecured wireless is a dangerous thing.

The only major drawback I know of (and have experienced) is if you have a cordless phone (just a regular cordless, not a cellular) that runs at the same frequency of the wireless router; it will interfere with the signal when you're using the phone. This is an easy fix, however - just acquire a phone that runs on a different frequency.

Hope this helps!
