Do you give your own personal honest opinion or do you sometimes play Devils advocate .

I do sometimes wonder when people here give out their responce.

And i know for a fact there are people online who will just say the most outrageous thing just to get peoples backs up ...so, how do you respond to things... do you think long and hard about what your going to say or do you just post off the top of your head .

Depends on what I'm responding to. A funny thread doesn't require a long, seriously thought out response.

Then I try to think out things. A teacher once told me never use pages of words when a sentence or two will work. People quit listening after one or two sentences anyway.

What advice I give is given from the heart, why else give it if you dont agree with it.

If a debate is going on here and I totally disagree with the topic, I try to keep out of it to be honest as I hate confrontation but If I keep reading it and see something written that compels me to answer I will. I will give my opinion but not slate someone elses at the same time.

Having said that, I would never intentionally post something on a forum if I thought it may hurt someones feelings or offend them. I posted a few blonde jokes etc when I first came here and I feel I may of upset some peeps so now I refrain from posting them even though I still find them amusing.:D

I post what I think in the same way I would say it if i were talking. Which causes trouble with some people who are not used to my tone or sarcasm.

I have taken the other side at times, only to show there was one or to boost the conversation but that's been rare.

I only post what I think in a serious thread, fun threads - anything is game.

I can understand why people would play devil's advocate to get a debate going but I only do that in a face to face conversation - body language and other clues then help to show that I may not necessarily mean what I say.

hey pants ...

of course there are people on all internet forums ... not just Forum Garden ... who will scroll thru the threads and then pick out something posted by a member with whom they may have a past issue or maybe a problem ...

then they will like post a diametrically opposed reply just to see if they can get a rise out of them ... maybe "put them in their place" ...

sometimes they do this because they like having a debate ... sometimes they do it because they are being mischievious ... sometimes they do it because they like really really don't like the person involved ...

but very often they will do it because they are jealous and because the person they want to put down is everything they wanna be but for various reasons cannot be ...

i always find this very sad because after all ... why are we here?

mostly we wanna have fun .. meet people ... chat ... post stuff and then hope that many many people will reply ... and that most of them will say nice things about us ...

cos lets face it ... we all really want to be liked ... loved even ... admired ... maybe envied ...

but not hated ... put down ... humiliated ... made to feel small or inferior ...

so when this happens to me ... and it does ... i simply ignore the bad posts and move on to something else ...

cos people who constantly put others down do it because they have a kingsize

inferiority complex and want to say hurtful things to people they actually want to be friends with because they erroneously believe that those people will never want them as friends ...

try me guys .... i'll be your friend ... honest!

You have to ask ?

I've always felt that one of your issues was that perhaps your head didn't have a top..

I say what I think/feel, whether it's on here or in person. Within reason of course. I'd never say something mean or hurtfull to someone (unless they deserve it! :p )

I rarely sit and really think about what to say...I feel that if I think too much about it, it might come out as insincere. I believe in being honest without being mean, and the ones that make me want to be mean, I just leave those alone.

If people didn't want a variety of opinions, they wouldn't post the threads. All the posts are important, to give feedback, different outlooks and might just make someone see things from a different perspective or help someone more than you will ever know. Don't think so much about it and just post from your heart. :):-4

I say what I think but try not to antagonise others.

It's hard on here because words on a screen sometimes do not show the emotions & body language of the person posting.

I try not to hurt others with what I type.

I feel like it at times:sneaky: but then step away :-6

Sometimes I don't have a set opinion on a particular matter or post, in which case I enjoy playing Devil's Advocate. If I have a firm opinion, I'll state it.

I say what i think and give my own honest opinion, i would never say anything different just to start a debate!

i also though am not gonna say anything to hurt anybodys feelings so the old saying, "if you can't say anything good, don't say anything at all" comes into play!

Most of the time i speak from the heart because it'll be about a topic i have an interest in,if it's something funny i just go with the flow. The one thing i couldn't do is argue a point if i didn't believe in it ( playing Devil's advocate ) i know it can make for good discussions it's just not for me .

I find it easier to ignore the people i really don't like .... it winds them up something cronic . You can't be nasty to someone if your ignoring them .

JJ i agree with the jealousy part . Some of us are happy with our lot in life and people can't handle that so they find things to sound off about... sad init . :-5
