TULSA, Okla. — The sheriff's office has backed off its recommendation that three dogs that are part of a bestiality case should be destroyed.

Donald Roy Seigfried, 55, and Diane Whalen, 54, face felony charges of committing crimes against nature, the statute that deals with bestiality.

Sheriff's officials at first said the animals appeared aggressive and should be put down. Animal rights groups argued that the dogs should be spared.

"The undersheriff has rethought his position on the dogs involved in the pornography," said sheriff's Capt. John Bowman. "Because of their status as being victims in this whole thing, he decided they will not be euthanized.

"His intent is to maintain them until they can be rehabilitated and then to get them adopted by people or organizations who are aware of their background and get a good home for all of them."

The sheriff's office received evidence the dogs had been filmed dozens of times performing sex acts with a woman.

So then his entire bases for not killing the dogs were because they were victims and not because they were a threat to the safety of society?...

This is exactly what's wrong with alot of things in this world...

In this case, it's my best educated guess that "aggressive" means "sexually dominant" only they don't want to actually say that because it rightly grosses people out.

Ok I'm a bit lost...

You mean to tell me they would kill a dog(s) because it had sex with a woman?...

Sounds to me like they need to take a few pointers...Maybe even from the dog...(Joking)...

They probably tried to sniff the sheriff's crotch.

Will the animals be continuing their careers ?

i guess it's just another case of humans abusing animals and then just discarding them when their of no use anymore :-5 .

Those poor dogs. This is just wrong. My dogs are part of my family and I just can't understand sickos like this.

Largest Animal Shelter in U.S. Will House 2 Dogs Trained to Have Sex With Women

OKLAHOMA CITY —

The nation's largest animal sanctuary has agreed to accept two dogs that authorities say were trained to have sex with women. A mixed breed and a Labrador, formerly owned by Diane Sue Whalen of Tulsa County, have been accepted by the Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, said Barbara Williamson, spokeswoman for the animal sanctuary.

The dogs — named Lucky and Buddy — will be taken to the no-kill sanctuary next month.

Whalen, 54, and Donald Roy Seigfried, 55, were charged with felony crimes against nature after Whalen's adult son found more than 150 tapes of his mother performing sex acts with her dogs and a blue heeler owned by Seigfried. Seigfried was accused of filming the acts.

The dogs were placed in the Tulsa Animal Shelter following the arrests. While Whalen relinquished custody of her dogs, Seigfried is fighting for ownership of the blue heeler, named Merlin.

Earlier this month, a judge ordered that the dogs be examined by a veterinarian and found suitable for adoption before being placed in homes. Both of Whalen's dogs have been deemed adoptable.

The dogs were neutered at a Tulsa veterinary clinic. Jamee Suarez, president and founder of the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, said the dogs are healthy and are recovering from their surgeries.

The Oklahoma Alliance for Animals is a nonprofit organization that works with the Tulsa County sheriff's office on cases involving animal cruelty.

Volunteers for the organization will drive the dogs more than 1,000 miles to the animal sanctuary in Utah. Once there, the dogs will become candidates for adoption.

"Each dog (at the sanctuary) is treated as an individual," said Williamson, the sanctuary spokeswoman. "We felt we could help these dogs."

A deputy who investigated the case had recommended that the dogs be euthanized and wrote in court affidavits that they had been trained to rape.

Williamson said euthanizing the dogs would have been "the easy thing to do."

"These dogs are totally victims," she said.

The sanctuary has room for 2,000 animals, mostly dogs and cats. Williamson said there are that many "urgent pleas" every month asking the shelter to take in animals.

Animals that are not adopted live permanently at the sanctuary.

It's good to see a lot of people are shocked by bestiality, but it's hardly anything new. Common practice in some places. At least it didn't physically harm the dogs (though they got neutered after). Some smaller animals on the receiving end, so to speak, are torn apart. As was one bloke recently, in ? California ?, who decided to offer himself to a stallion. Sigh. I suppose one shouldn't be too surprised that we humans get up to such nastiness, considering what some of us do to our own species, adult or child.
