My brother and sister in law left today...

For anyone who doesn't know, they left here and moved to Mexico indefinately.

It has ripped my family apart horribly... I can barely contain my tears as I write this.

They are leaving quite simply for a change of life that is it. Going to Mexico to live the tax free lifestyle.

The horror of this is my dad's health is failing and my brother is the only son. He was my dad's work horse (in a good way).

I am not going to fill anyones heads about what I think of them and the why's and what for's of this all, some of it is in my journal.

What has absolutely and completely ripped my heart out is they made arrangements with friends all this week to say their final good byes but did nothing to spend any of their final days here with our family.

Yesterday they tied up lose ends with their vehicles and only went to my folks because they needed a favor... in the interim they managed to catch my younger daughter calling for a ride from her grandpa and they chose to drive her instead to spend that 20 minutes with her.... oh wait it gets better.... They NEVER even called my older daughter to say goodbye.... nothing they have not spoke to her in probably over 2 months.... there is no reason for it, no fighting no disagreements nothing.... I am just crushed... hurting like mad for her and my dad... and god forbid my oldest finds this out I don't know what I will do.

Today I spent the afternoon with my dad and he actually cried....

Yes my selfish siblings walk away unscathed.

Ouch! I'm sorry! That sounded like a horrible situation to go through.

I hope they did their homework before making the move to Mexico. I live not 15 minutes from the border and have traveled all over Mexico. Some areas I wouldn't live in other are just fine.

Sorry for your pain Mel. It sounds a little weird. Why would they behave this way? Sounds like there might be a problem you all dont know about.

The only reason I can think they would do this is that they thought you all disaprove and couldn't face it for fear of negativity

I'm sure with your Brother moving is very upsetting for your Family.

My Family was very upset when I moved by myself some 20 years ago at the age of 30.

I missed a few of my family as a result of the move, we visit eachother alot.

I hope as Carla stated - they did their homework on Mexico - property rights when purchasing a house etc. different rules/laws etc.

It's all so different in Mexico.

Sure you have a tropical appeal and water - Mexico is another COUNTRY -

it actually scares me.

Did they say why MEXICO ?? Seems a drastic move ??

What else is going on ??

Mexico would've been the last place I'd move to - I don't care to visit Mexico..

Well, I know it's sad to see him move & with your Dad failing in health just compounds the WHY ??

oh you guys are wonderful thanks so much.

Weeder I have wondered if there is something beneath the surface with this but who knows.

I know my sis in law is a "runner" she has run away from 2 previous marriages already, and a whole bunch of friends. She is also very showy....

I know my brother is a push over and has always been incredibly close to my folks.

They have said things like they are tired of the winters here, they want to live the tax free lifestyle there, they want to be "the vacation spot" for their friends and family.

Me I doubt I will ever get there it has never turned my crank.

They have gone to live in some small town a little north of Puerta Viarta (I can not spell)

I hate to admit it but my sis in law is a bit of a flake thinks she can sell beads on the beach... ok really she is pretty sure she has some contract deal to sell some condo's there... so be it... I hope they succeed sadly some of their friends and my father wish differently.

They asked me to come for christmas I said no, I am spending it here with my kids and grandson. They are my number 1 priority.

Thanks again guys I really will be fine I think I just needed to vent more than anything. I just get a little over the top when my family gets hurt...(my parents and children)
