I am a complete novice when it comes to buying a bottle of wine. I know I prefer red wines over white. But I hate standing in the store trying to pick a bottle, all the different terms confuses me. I bought a bottle of Yellow Tail Cabernet Sauvignon this past weekend and it was good. But do any of you have any recommendations?

I know nothing really being more of a beer person.

I always get Livingston, they're yummy and cheap!

I dont know a lot, but i like wine too:DCabernet sauvignon is usually nice,, Rioja is a good wine but normall more expensive. It depends what you like ,, full bodied, smooth, fruity, light, oaky.. just have a try of different ones and you will find the ones you like best. I have found though that expensive does'nt always mean best:rolleyes: you can get some lovley cheaper wines ,, some of the expensive ones are just overpriced;)

Lambrusca is a nice red wine....good price

I used to ride one of those a long time ago.

I reckon she should go it alone and ferment up a few gallons in the shed.

You did a great job of selection. The Yellow Tail Cabernet is a good choice. It's better than many wines at twice the price. In the same price range you might like to try a Mondavi Merlot for comparison. It's a bit more mellow & slightly sweeter than the Cab.

I love wine. I can't drink red wine too often because the molds in the wine causes an allergic reaction, but I do expecially love the pinot noirs, merlots and cabernat sauvignots.



Check them out...you might like some of my favorite wineries....pepperwood, glen ellen, mondavi and john lohr.....think that most of their wines are good, inexpensive and consistent.

Thanks! I stood there for 15 minutes reading labels, and decided the vanilla and chocolate aromas sounded enticing.

in red you can't go wong with a cabernet sauvignon and in white an unwooded

chardonnay ... and don't be seduced into buying anything that isn't 2008 vintage ..

my opinion anyway!

Hey Sheryl,

Had some friends over last night. Served some Pepperwood wines...merlot, pinot noir and chardonnay. Everyone loved them.

Forgot to tell you about another "Sleeper Winery".....Rex Goliath.....nice wines...all good:-6

I'm not great at it either but I have found that there are some blends I like more than others, and some origins I like more than others. One inexpensive one that I really like is called Red Guitar- it's from Spain. Higher ends, I'm not as good with the recommendations....

When I used to drink Yellow Tail was my choice.

I first had that when I was in New Zealand & loved the wine.:-6

That Yellow-Tail Cab Sauv is very nice... not a bad first choice at all from a self proclaimed novice wine connoisseur.
