'Cause I sure as heck didn't: (Got this in an email)

A friend sent this to me and I sure did not know it. I never read the ends

of the Aluminum Foil box. I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for

myself. Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? What a

fantastic idea. Now, if someone would just make plastic wrap that didn't stick to

itself.

(I just went and locked in 3 boxes of foil and 1 box of saran wrap!)

I've been using aluminum foil for years. Great stuff, but sometimes it can

be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and

you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you

have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always

comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an

empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the

end of the box. And written on the end it said, "Press here to lock end".

Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How

long has this little locking tab been there?

I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I

then looked at a box of Saran Wrap and it had one too! I can't count the

number of times the Saran Wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover

something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends that did not know this. If you all ready

know this, delete this message and don't e-mail me and make me feel dumber

than I already feel. If you didn't know this, e-mail me and let me know so I

won't feel so dumb.

--------------------------------------------------

Val again... as my UK'er friends might say, I was gobsmacked!! I have a

roll of cheapo store brand foil, and it's on there, I ran downstairs and

looked as soon as I got this this morning!!

Who knew?

Hi Val:-6 Very cool...I love these bits of info. I didn't know that. There are just 2 little triangles on both sides of the box. You press them in to lock the foil...Thanks.

Another little tip. When you use foil , place your food into wax paper first as the aluminum leaks into your food :-6

You know what, I bet you could make your own. Take a razor blade

and cut a little "V" in the middle of the end of the box and push it

in... might work...

Well, I don't use any of it but VERY rarely... but I wonder about

putting the wax paper in if you were say baking a potato? Doesn't

it deteriorate and get melted wax paper all over the food?

I had to go check - to secure the roll - press

I've never seen that - not ever

There's a thread "what makes you mad" - I said Saran Plastic Wrap

the junk never rolls right - I make a mess of it..

Thank You - maybe this will ease my frustration with wrap..

Thanks

Patsy

Hi Val,

I pack food in wax paper first and then foil when I want to make a sandwich for lunch or to freeze things.....not for cooking.

Hi val, I havent got any baco foil at the moment to check lol,

but ive just looked on the cling film box and it has instructions on the box for Roll Hold Tabs which i had never even looked at before. Cling film can be such a pain at times.

This is a wilco brand :

Roll hold tabs - designed to hold the roll of film securely inside the box.

First find start of the roll, Then lift roll slightly and push in perforated tabs which are located at either end of the carton.

Great post hun, I will be sure to use it in the future.

Do you mind if i pass the info on to my friends?

Hugs Malady
