Why do waiters/waitresses have to ask you about the "Black Pepper"?

As a ritual, it does little to endear them, and often works against them tipwise.

The Black Pepper moment is invariably the one where you're in mid-sentance, & or starting to begin a new sensitive subject. And then the epiphany comes that could transform your life into the pure joy you've always known it could be!

Why does the world not spring for a few extra Peppermills and just leave them on the table?

So very true! AND why do they always come up and ask you if everything is okay when you have a mouth full of food?

Are they afraid of the answer and want to catch you when all you can do is nod and agree?? lol

My mom waitressed her way through college, and she has said many times that they ask you when your mouth is full so that they don't have to run and get you extra things.

So, I put my hand in the air, gesturing to wait. I chew my food at my normal pace, grin, and then usually say, "No thanks, we're great." Wicked, I know! LOL
