How bizzarre!
I remember reading a novel about a woman who got an eye transplant form an evil guy (it's been a while since I read it, don't remember most of the details) and she started seeing wierd things, and having strange thoughts.
What do you think? Do people recieve more than just an organ in transplants? Do you think that personality traits can be transferred also?

Funny, Santanico, I just asked that same question this week.
I think it's possible. I think with certain organs (like the heart) and with blood, being the essence of life especially, that there is some kind of coding that gets passed on. I'm sure that wouldn't be scientifically proven, but I think there's far more going on than what we currently know or admit to.

Didn't you ever see that Simpsons episode when Homer gets a hair transplant from Snake and takes up a life of crime? I think the answer is a resounding "yes."

In many beliefs, there exists the idea that every living thing has energy. Sometimes even dead things like chairs and tables have energy because the wood or leather was once alive. I'm with the crowd who feels nothing ever dies. It only transforms, changes, but its energy is always there. I am aware some people will think this is ignorant or whatever and that's fine but it's only one reason I do not support organ donation. I'm okay with blood donation, although it creeps me out a bit still but I do support and plan to give (my first attempt was foiled.) But I think when you take on body parts, you get quite a bit of that other person's essence within you. Thank God we don't have brain transplants- can you imagine?!

That is a scary thought....
Gotta say though, when I die, if anything is still usable, I'm all for organ donation. My family is aware of my stand on this, and they all agree. I guess it would help to know where the organs were coming from.

It's not ignorant, RG. The Law of Thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed. When we die, our energy has to go somewhere...
It is my personal belief that it is transferred to the soil as carbon, which is then released back into the atmosphere.
But who knows? Perhaps our energy is transmuted into guitar solos. It is my only hope that I don't end up as some horrible, screech, resonating from some pimpled-face 15 year old massacring stairway to heaven.
