You know how you can be going about your business and a thought will pop into your head that has no business being there? Maybe a tv show from ten years before or something your aunt said at a family gathering once, and you don't know why but it lives in your head and pops up now and then?

That just happened to me. I was doing something and not really in deep thought and I suddenly remembered this documentary I saw some years ago. A Jewish woman had been in the concentration camps as a child. At some point her mother gave her some loose diamonds. I think they had been sewn into her coat lining but they were either taking her away or killing her and she managed to get the diamonds to her daughter, with the instructions to never let them go. The girl ended up swallowing the diamonds (I always thought you'd die if you did that- that's what happens in the movies) and then uh...retrieving them at a later date. Did I say that nicely? She did this repeatedly. She survived the camp and as an adult had a necklace made of a teardrop with the three diamonds in it.

That's just something I never forgot.

I remember this documentary. I remember thinking the necklace she had the diamonds made into was incredibly ugly and you'd have thought she'd have had time to plan a more beautiful setting. Also, surely the diamonds were to help her pay for food and lodging once she left the camp. Why did she hang onto something with such bad memories attached?

Having said that, I remember she once expelled the diamonds and had to reswallow them immediately because the guards were coming. She didn't even get a chance to wash them. :-2 I'm surprised the poor woman didn't die of hepatitis!

This happens to me all the time....matter of fact, too often....

I get flashbacks of stuff from the past too. and not sure what to do with them when they pop up!

I have never seen the documentary about the woman you posted about, but wow! what a story....and I was trying not to hurl when I read that she "collected them later".....see, had a flashback of when I was a young teenager and my brother (5 years older) used to play quarters and accidentally swallow the quarters....I used to make a killin' just by goin' to the toilet !!:wah::wah:

Yes RG, good question. More often then not at the wrong time, expecially when trying to fall asleep! Start tinking about things from childhood, work time, bad vacations, nasty sales person, just many things that won't let me fall off to sleep! Grrrrrh!

I do think about just random stuff, but most of the times it's songs that

I can't for the life of me figure out WHY they popped into my head.

that I overlooked before"... I know, none of you have ever heard of

it right?



I can understand if it's a song I forgot I had just heard on DWTS

or something, but when I don't know what the trigger is... I mean,

I hadn't found a four leaf clover or even SEEN any clover when I

started singing that.

That's right SunnyBunny! I had forgotten that. Gross!!

One time I was shot in the head with an arrow up in the Italian alps. Oh, wait...that wasn't me, that was Oetzi!
