He sits upon the cabinet

tipped so slightly askew

he was your first teddy bear

how he reminds me of you

he was cuddled and loved

and clung onto so tight

i think back on times

of long talks into night

When you came for a visit

you spotted your old toy

a girlish squeal excaped

as you scooped him up in joy

when you left one more time

with teddy bear in tow

i felt that tug at my heart

as i watched you both go

the small thread that bonds us

grows quite taut and thin

I feel bits of me vanish

far down & deep within

my daughter, my love

my dear sweet pumpkin pie

I wish you safe travels

with each parting good-bye

Grow strong & be wise

choose well as you learn

stop often, think twice

use care at each turn

these feelings pour free

it's hard watching you live

going on, not needing me.

Awww I just had a moment 2 nites ago missing my oldest daughter. We were like best friends.

That's beautiful, minks! I'm not looking forward to that part of my daughter's growing up. Probably because she keeps taking MY teddy bears!

Thanks and your right it wasn't something I was looking forawrd to either. But I guess that is life as a parent. I shall give her a copy but she likely will cry. Then I will
