Interesting how coffee shops are so popular and for so many people central locations of their social lives. All centered around coffee? Probably not really. I guess it's a combination of things, but coffee is not the primary interest of the coffee shop right? Dan Howitt, NY.

Maybe coffee shops are becoming the clubs/bars of this century. I'm all for interesting ways to meet people :-6

A nice cup of joe will do me fine, no sugar just milk, thanks. Why don't you come over to the Bothwell Pub?

In Japan, coffee shops were the quiet places to meet and chat. The coffee was strong and horrendous. People seldom drank it; they just massaged the cup while they chatted. Most had novels to read for free. Some played soft jazz. I suppose we have similar shops here in the States, but not where I live.

:D Nope. Dark wood, soft lighting, simple eats if you want it. As far from Starbucks as coffee is from double half calf mocha latte yaya.

Sounds like Donkey's Place in Ocean City, NJ - good food, coffee and privacy.
