I'm attempting a 'classy' dinner party this evening -- it's only for seven people, but I'm hoping they'll walk away saying, "Isn't Cher something! What an incredible evening!"

Here is my menu:

Appetizers: Pesto & cheese triangles, Carmelized onion pizza, Bacon & brown sugar bites, and Anchovy Puffs (what can I say -- I LOVE ANCHOVIES! )

Dinner:

Potato, Corn & Tomato Chowder

Goat Cheese Salad with Carmelized Pecans and Dried Cranberries

Cornish Game Hens with Elderberry Preserve sauce

Cold Chinese Pasta Salad with Peanut Butter Dressing

Desserts:

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Cream Cheese Squares

White Chocolate Bars



So . . .

Would any of you be at least mildly impressed? :p:-6

So there really is still a C&B, and the diner sounds great also! So what kind of wine are you going to serve with that?

Cher, I bet you could put a Cornish Pasty on their plate and a pint of scrumpy in their glass and just being with you would be all the magic they'd need.

I have a recipe for Cornish Pasty if you want. Finding the scrumpy might be harder.

I just finished cleaning up (it's pretty close to midnight) and I poured myself a nice drink and sat down in front of my computer

The evening went so well -- I'm happy to say all the effort was very appreciated! Most of the food went home in "doggy bags" , but of course I left some goodies for hubby and me :p How could I not?

Of course, if I had my FGers over, we'll still be partying well into the night :guitarist

(but to be honest, I'm ready to hit the sack :p)

We started with Bloody Marys and shots of Southern Comfort (not for me, though!) and moved on to either Shiraz or Chardonnay. The wine flowed freely and the conversation did as well.

Spot, do you remember the 'picnic' you and Pinky and I shared last year? I have *great* memories of that :p

And Carla, if you were with me, I'd ask you to polish off the unfinished bottles with me -- I just know you wouldn't leave me stranded :-6

It was a wonderful picnic Cher, days as good as that are very rare. You only have to show up for me and Pinky to hire a punt and get the hamper packed if it's summer, you know we'd love to.
