Thanks for asking that Immy, I was wondering the same thing but didn't want to look like an eejit.

It means (I realize I don't speak for the majority here but the imagery works well) that I've taken the biggest baddest hugest hooked spear from my extensive collection of spears, tied a rope to it, launched it unerringly through your vitals having first taunted you intolerably and made you realize your credibility had finally run out in front of everyone, and slowly hauled you within range of my large cleaver with which I've dissected you into tiny fragments while liberally coating myself in your gore. Pwned is shorter but no less pungent.

You have to be incredibly juvenile to think it's funny.

A corruption of the word "Owned." This originated in an online game called Warcraft, where a map designer misspelled "owned." When the computer beat a player, it was supposed to say, so-and-so "has been owned."

Instead, it said, so-and-so "has been pwned."

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

"Man, I rock at my job, but I still got a bad evaluation. I was pwned."
