Americans call that hole in the roof of the car a 'moon roof' and British call it a 'sun roof'
and what does the rest of the world call it?

Easy answer.
Because Americans drive at night and the British drive during the day. The rest of the world calls it a "sky roof".

It's a sun roof in Canada and in the U.S. too, at least I've never heard it referred to that way.

I always thought moon roof referred to the ones that only pop up instead of slide open. Of course, mine does both, and I call it a sunroof, so who knows

I thought that the moon roof was the one over the back seats where an MPV (?SUV?) has two of them
