I've not seen any of them so none of them have made me cry :wah:

Now if you'd mentioned "The day they gave babies away" or "They shoot horses, don't they?" then I'd agree like a shot.

Million Dollar Baby turned me into a weeping pile of mush. The others get a tear from me. Braveheart makes me tear up. I'm a softy though.

Bryan if you haven't seen any of those I'm astonished.

Oh, Rudy, I hate the movie.

Not one of those in the first post made me want to do anything other than leave the cinema with the single exception of To Kill a Mockingbird on the grounds that I liked Gregory Peck's acting. Just. Marginally.

It's not that I never react to a film. I even reacted to the same one three times which must show something. In 1937 the exact same plot was made into two films, Pepe le Moko (with Jean Gabin, Mireille Balin, Lucas Gridoux) and Algiers (with Charles Boyer, Hedy Lamarr and Joseph Calleia in the same parts) and stolen a few years later as the basis for Casablanca (as Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains). I think I preferred Charles Boyer over Bogart, and Joseph Calleia was amazing, so perhaps Algiers wins.

You want an entire 20 which all work emotionally? Okay...

The Ox-Bow Incident

Freaks

Citizen Kane

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp

King Kong

The Shooting Party

Ivan Grozny

La Regle du jeu

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Queen Christina

Captains Courageous

Wuthering Heights

The Four Feathers

La Grande illusion

Aleksandr Nevskiy

Huis clos

A Matter of Life and Death

The Entertainer

I'd hate to have to single out a single one of those, they're all perfect.

Attention span of a gnat - I couldn't go to the cinema and watch a film and don't rent videos so it's only those I see on the box which is rarely.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the other 18 and watch them.

This thread will self-destruct in 10 seconds.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame has Felix Aylmer and Charles Laughton and doesn't involve cartoons or Disney. I just thought I'd make quite sure about that one, it makes a big difference. Oh, and the King Kong has to have Fay Wray and Wuthering Heights has to have David Niven and Olivier.

When I first saw this film about 25 years ago, I welled up when the British executed Mel Gibson.

Now, watching Mel taking a volley of lead would give me a sadistic thrill. (Mel, that is...not the character. Not sure if the film would have the same effect on me now that Mel has spouted off a few years ago.)

I have seen every one of the films and agree. Some more tears than others.

I would add Bambi to the list and perhaps even "The Bride of Frankenstein", something really moving about that one.
