Ill be taking a solo motorcycle trip this summer. Ive narrowed it down to a couple of options.
If this were your trip which location would you be inclined to choose ?
The Badlands in South Dakota or Thunder Bay Ontario.

	Badlands:
	Rich in history
	Spectacular & unique views
	Paleontological resources
	Badlands National Park
	Mount Rushmore
	Crazy Horse Monument
	Wildlife/Bison,Eagles,Antelope,Snakes

	Thunder Bay Ontario:
Scenic ride along the Lake Superior shore
	Waterfalls
	Pristine lakes & rivers
	Wildlife/Deer,Elk,Moose,Eagles,Bear
	Green lush forests

my friend took the badlands trip on his bike a few years ago, Nomad he raved endlessly about it, can't wait to go back. I would say do the badlands. I saw the pics they were amazing.
If all else fails I say a cross country tour to here, we got badlands (dinosaur badlands) mountains, rivers, waterfalls, elk, deer, moose, bear, minks, foxes, etc.

I say the coastal trip. While both destinations are amazing, I'd say the trip north might have more along the way.

Up to 116 degrees warm. Thats a serious consideration.

Yup you're a cold-weather guy. It'll kill ya. Fly there in the spring or fall.

Nomad, I picked the Badlands too. But I did consider the heat factor. Please don't go in summer. I live in 110-120+ degree heat all summer and it wipes me out even though I've had 32 years of acclimation. When you go, bring plenty of water and be careful, ok??

ps: Either trip would be great. Those photos made it a tough call.

I say both! Do the northern route during the summer! Then do the Badlands route in the early fall.

Yes, you are not a desert guy, if you can take the heat, go for it.
I used to go to school in temps like that.................

	I miss the heat.

I can't see there's a contest at all. The lakeside's flat, South Dakota is far more interesting.
Off you go mate, take a camera to show us what you find and some spare water just in case.

I've been to the badlands....but of course I was a child...I do remember going to see Crazy horse and the miles and miles of dirt!:wah: This was in the mid 70's but by the pictures you posted, looks the same to me as when I was a child.
I definately would say take the South Dakota trip, but definately in early spring or fall.....Please take pictures, I'm sure it will be great!:-6

				I recommend the Badlands.
It's nice that you could still travel through Canada without a passport but I think you'll be shocked at how much more it will cost you for daily expenses... and that's in Canadian dollars! ( :yh_giggle ) Of all the places I've been in Canada nothing compares to BC. Ontario is mostly an industrial province.
Aside from that, you should see as much of your own country as you can when you have the chances.

Magnificent - mind you, on one trip one of the lads broke down in the Gorbals one evening and we had the Police panicking by suggesting we find a bike shop and wait till it opened in the morning.
Out they said - get out now and here's a rope to tow him with.
We got - as you might imagine.

The Gorbals was a notorious area of tenement slums in Glasgow - "Throughout the 1980s the Gorbals was often referred to as the most dangerous place in the UK, as street gangs and casual violence were rife. The common weapon of choice amongst teenagers was a machete.". Thankfully, it is now much improved.
