I fixed someone and then gave them up rather then hold on for dear life. Why do I always end up knowing they'll be better off with someone else Chonsi? Why do I push them away instead of fighting to keep them...

And you know me... I'll start fresh, with some other poor sap next week..

I'm the real 'poor sap' aint i?:o

Floppy your just not ready yet plain and simple. Has nothing to do with a mature relationship, it has everything to do with wanting to be in a relationship period. :-5

Carla's got it there.

I always used to do that for others while my life around me stagnated.

Then I decided it was my turn.

Took my own medicine and my own advice and now it's my turn to shine.

I think it may actually be that I am afraid to be in a relationship, carla.

Short term doesn't seem to bother me, but I just can't conceive of anyone possibly wanting to be with me forever, so i leave before it has a chance to occur to them too...:D

You are never a "sap." You must have pushed them away for a reason, because the one you will hold onto for dear life, is still waiting for you to find.

I think you are very wise, and will know when that someone is there before you.

Have you asked your mailman if he's single... or was I just thinking of having you check into that for me???:p:-4

Been there done that myself. It still gets back to not being ready, if you were ready you wouldn't leave. It would feel right and fear or insecurity wouldn't be an issue. ;)

Do you think this might mean that you can't conceive of wanting to be with

someone forever? Just a thought...

I've been trying to avoid the subject but seeing that you won't let it go, here's the deal.

My Mail "man" is actually an extremely large Jamaican woman with facial hair and she sweats no matter what the temperature. It also appears that do to her extreme mass she has flattened the leaf springs on her Jeep to the point that she now has the only 'low rider" mail delivery vehicle in town. Much to the chagrin of the local Hispanic community.

Can Hispanics be chagrined?

A notion Ive heard many times but havent quite grasped myself yet is that true happiness derives from serving others.

Not in a servant sense nor as in losing your own identity.

Are you selfish ?

No shame in that but a less selfish outlook is a quality worth striving for.

Not just you of course its a human trait.

Me thinking out loud.

Floppy if you don't want to be with someone don't blame yourself. Hell I have no desire to have a relationship at this time in my life. I don't blame anyone at all. I hate that it has to be someones fault at all. :-5

I'm just happy being alone and damit that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :wah:

I'm still curious how you fix someone. Wouldn't that be up to him to decide and accomplish? I'm not sure I'd be too pleased if someone decided I'd make a dandy little improvement project.

selfish is as selfish does

I think that to strive to be less selfish, is a selfish act. You could actually be focusing your attentions on someone else, couldn't you? I don't try to be selfish or giving, but if I had to guess I'd say I lean more toward the giving side.... so long as we're not talking emotions here, that is. And I don't consider that selfish... I consider that self preservation.:-6

This wasnt criticism. Ive no idea whatsoever if your selfish or if your not.

But since were talking about emotions harboring them is extremely selfish.

Blow jobs are a dime a dozen.

Self preservation is me me me.
