Just read one of your comments on another thread and it walked into something I've wondered about. Not enough to look it up but if I can get my curiosity satisfied on the forum I'll ask the question.

I watch the reality cop shows on TV and see sherriff's deputies making arrest, investigating etc.and I've read some of what you have done.

In my home state of PA the sheriff and his deputies transport prisoners, serve paper and handle sheriff's sales foreclosures etc. From what I read and see, it must be that the job definition of what deputies do varies from state to state?

Yes??

I would say the basic duties of a deputy and volunteer deputy have very little difference in job description from state to state and are not equal to that of a "real" cop!

hi...in my state, the words police, deputy, and cop are interchangable. we have city police, beach police, fish and game, all with their own jurisdiction. however the county sheriff , MY SHERIFF, covers the entire county with no geographical limit except county lines (which we can cross in hot pursuit) with his deputies, of which i am one. we are all law enforcement officers (LEO) , sworn, commissioned, carry a badge and gun, and make arrests. i couldn't tell you about other states. but when you see florida deputies on COPS that is the (green)uniform i wear, all florida deputies do. i hope that answered your question! :)

OOOOOOOO you had to know I was wondering! LOL! So is it to be the London Met?

Or are you going to be a 'proper Sherlock'? 'Watson' here is dying to know!hehehehe

They didnt have my job here, so I had to pursue another course of action. I'll be starting in the NHS (nursing) as soon as my criminal background check is back. Being as I'm such an ANGEL :yh_angel, it should be a pretty dull report! hehehehe
