Young Voters Choose Football

I was watching CNN (A.C 360) earlier and they were discussing the upcoming presidential elections, tossing around poll numbers and what not. On the show they had a Former Presidential Adviser named David Gergen, who's been in the "biz" for a long time (from Richard Nixon to Bill Clinton).
He had this to say about younger voters in America:
"It's hard to get them out on caucus night, especially if there's a football game on, as there will be."
(a) What do you think about this comment?
(b) If you think it's true, I'd like to hear your opinion on "Why young Americans don't care enough?"
(c) What can be done to change this?
Much respect.
