Take your favorite Tuna cassarole. That way you will have something you like to eat and everyone else will be scared of it.:wah:

YZGI's right on the chicken!
I'm the one who always brings the devilled eggs. I figure no potluck or picnic is ready until the devilled eggs arrive.

How do you make your eggs, you guys??
I mix my filling with mayo, paprika and equal amounts (small) of red wine vinegar and sugar. They come out tangy but sweet. And sometimes I'll crush up dried basil or rosemary and sprinkle on the top. That makes them a little crunchy but the extra sweetness is really good. Welp, now you know my trade secret: equal amounts red wine vinegar and sugar. This just gave me a new thread idea!! *red spins off to make a new thread!*

Sunny, cornbread might be a nice touch, especially in Texas! Maybe a pot of chili beans. I think Wendy has a good idea going too with her suggestions.
And YZ, I'm going to try that cayenne pepper! That's a cool idea.

such great suggestions!!! :yh_drool
here's my deviled egg recipe, strange perhaps but hella-good!
I throw the yolks in a bowl and add finely chopped baby dill pickles (relish would work but pickles are tastier somehow....) a splash of pickle juice, a squirt of mustard, a couple of spoonfulls of mayo, and a sprinkle of paprika over them once they're filled.

That sounds delish, Sunny! I'm going to get some eggs this week and try both your and YZGI's recipes! Maybe we can get Wendy to tell us hers! Any devilled egg is a good egg IMO!

the best thing is you can have a few little bowls filled with yolks and try all the recipes at the same time, since most of the stuff we'd all have on hand anyway.

Starting to feel bad for YZGI's wife if he eats all those eggs Sunday. :-3
My devilled eggs are egg yolks, mayo, dijon mustard (yep the fancy stuff), paprika, salt and pepper. But I like the cayenne pepper idea to.

deviled eggs don't effect me. But the one and only time I choked down a pickled egg, I was choking everyone else in the room within an hour.

I'm going to try that Dijon mustard too, Sheryl.
A friend of mine talked me into making and trying pickled eggs...I tried but it just wasn't my thing. Was fun to try it out though.

I have an uncle who makes pickled eggs and pickled pigs feet every year for football season. I was brave enough to try the egg, but no way in hell was I putting a pigs foot in my mouth. :wah:

OOPS, I got busy and just got back to this thread....
My deviled eggs are very simple imo.....the way I like it...
I mix the yolks (of course) with mayo, mustard and a dash of celery seed and then sprinkle with Paprika on ONLY half, because I'm anal and I DON'T like paprika...so I make half of them for someone else and the other half for ME!

:D
All this talk about eggs, makes me ummmmm...........HUNGRY! Yeah, that's it!
Wouldn't it be great to have a FG potluck dinner?? I'd LOVE that!:-6

I know a great easy dessert for pot luck.
2 large boxes of orange jello
1-15.oz can of crushed pineaples
1-15.oz can of mandarin oranges
1-bag of small size marshmellows
1- 8.oz of sour cream
1- bowl of cool whip
1- 8.oz bag of finely grated chedder cheese
Make jello. put in large bowl or container while still warm.
add drained oranges an pineaples, mix (they will sink to bottom)
add marshmellows (they will float) enough to cover the top about 1 inch thick.
cover, put in fridge to chill and set up.
after jello has chilled, remove from the fridge
mix all the sour cream and about half of whipped topping (or more to your taste)
spread on top of marshmellows
sprinkle cheese on top.
Very simple to make. and very delicious.
