Every time I have to get into a line of any kind.....fast food drive thru, grocery store, on hold on telephone....etc. I think that we must spend like quite a lot of time standing or waiting in line. How much time do you think?

Never go to drive throughs, but I avoid grocery lines by shopping first thing in the morning. Five stores this morning, home in 1 1/2 hours. Pretty good, I won't have to shop for 2 weeks now. (except for milk and eggs)

The most fun of shopping is filling the cart. I've been known to just leave my cart in an aisle and walk out of the store after that. It's about as long as I need to possess things... then someone else can add to the landfill.

I've rarely had good help in finding the things so they can benefit from putting it all away. Maybe next time they'll remember where it is. :wah:

I really don't understand making someone's job harder than it has to be. I guess that's just me.

The point is not to make them put everything back, the point is that I end up deciding I don't need the stuff in the basket.

I take taxis when I go somewhere as I don't drive and having to wait on them is a part of my life and a pain in the @ss. That's really the only waiting that troubles me. Well.....no. When there's 30 customers and 2 checkers that pisses me off too.

30 customers, 2 checkers, and 20 unused registers. Welcome to WalMart.

Too long waiting on call centres to answer the phone. Sadly I have no choice but to call them since e-mail is a step too far for most companies to cope with. I find I can't work at other things while waiting so having acquired phenomenal skill at freecell and patience I discovered forum garden. The most fun I've had while waiting in line. That's why I keep popping in and out when I get fed up I have a look to see if anything is happening, sometimes I can be waiting half an hour or more.

I have started my own anti fax machine campaign. Every time I have to send one to a company that won't accept documents by e-mail I add on the bottom the information that the fax machine was invented in 1843 (by a Scotsman of course) and could they please bring their company in to the 21st century.

The saying I love is:

'Hurry up and wait'

It is what we spend a lot of time doing. We seem to have to rush everywhere and yet always end up waiting.

1/3 of life sleeping

1/3 of life learning/working

1/3 of life waiting

When I was a General Manager of a supermarket in Canada, if there were long lines up at the cash desks I would get a couple of the grocer clerks to open some bags of cookies, put them on trays and go around the lines handing them out and thanking the customers for their patience.
