Ok a misleading title but I like it.
I have a couple of friends why are having a bit of an argument. One friend does not eat the white of an egg as he claims it holds a witches spirt the other friend said he is making it up. The first insist he is not making it up and that it was something he was told by his gran when he was a kid. Has anyone heard of anything like this before is it complete garbage or is there some folk lore where people used to actually beleive this?

I like to think I have a good knowledge of folklore but this is one I've not heard of before. It seems entirely possible that folks would believe this. I am curious as to why. Did someone crack open a fertilized egg one time and mistake the chic embryo for a witch? Is it maybe something peculiar to voodoo? I tried looking it up but no avail. I would believe the guy, that he was serious about it, it's certainly an interesting concept.

Sounds like one of those country folk law things to me? Last folk law ceremony I visited was interesting:-2
The Bleazing of the Batch
The annual ceremony of “The Bleazing of the Batch will take place on Wednesday, 13th June, weather permitting and in a break from tradition, town clocks are included for the first time. “We had so many “Bleazers last year there were not enough church clocks to go round, this time all the public clock faces in Northumberland are to be used said event organizer and Lamir of the Festooned Bucket, Ghengis Buckminster- Fulerine It is requested that participants adhere to the strict rules of the ancient ceremony. All “Bleazers must wear jaunty headgear, north-facing dials are not be gazed upon in the morning, “Bleazers must be accompanied by a bucket keeper, a priest of the temple of Phanee Bhator and under the influence of alcohol, no-smoking is forbidden and all rodents must of course be albino. Last year the ceremonies held in Rothbury, Wooler and Seahouses were ruined by spectators joining in and there was one hell of a mess to clear up afterwards. So this year we are increasing security at all venues in a bid to safeguard our ancient rights, this is not some sort of tourist attraction, said Mr. Buckminster- Fulerine. The adjudicator for this years “Bleezing of the Batch will be Mr. Paul Necklace of Ashington.
