I'm using Firefox as I type this. So far my user experience has been very positive and I have nothing but good to say about it. Great browser every bit as good as IE6 - if not better.

I use Firefox and find it to load pages much quicker than IE6. Much cleaner look.. love the ability to import favorites or bookmarks.. from your previous browser. As far as disabling you virus protection that is not a very smart move. I would check and see what else he downloaded too... lots of little tagalong type programs out there...

I'm using forefox as well, much faster than IE, tabbed browsing is much easier than wibdows-currently have six pages in fg open i just need to click the tab i want. If you are doing research you don't have to keep openu=ing up and closing windows. More secure as well you can it up to block cookies or ask each time somebody asks to place them. Try it it open source so costs you nothing to try if you don't like it dump it. Only problem you might have is some web desugners designing for IE only.

While in some things Firefox is faster than IE, it is slower in others. Internet Providers have taken to Firefox lately because it is more secure - they are covering their networks by giving you a product less likely to download adware/spyware that will flood their networks with spam.

Not sure why he would disable McAffee...unless your subscription is up and you were no longer able to download virus updates. In that case, I would imagine that he would install some 'free' antivirus program such as AVG or Avast.

I have been using Mozilla Firefox for my browser as a replacement to IE and I have recently switched to Mozilla Thunderbird as a replacement for Outlook Express email. I much prefer both.

I like this firefox.. it is faster but i can't download a link here BC it tells me that "Mozilla requires that you selct some text before this can work" What does that mean? I never had a problem posting links before. When i copy something from another page or something i can't paste it anymore either.. It doesn't even give me that option. Can Someone please help me!

Sounds like you need to highlight the part you want to download

Try http://www.mozilla.org/start/1.4/support.html

There are manuals you can download if you want also umpteen help sites and forums where you can post questions and people will help you out and tell you what you need to know.

Also have a look at

http://www.openoffice.org/

You might find that if interest as well.

I found AVG to be better than macafee in that nacafee seemed to crash some of my programmes.
