No More Ebay For Me....

Wow, I think I am finished with ebay. Some of the sellers are vicious. They get rude over a lousy 99 cent item. And then write slanderous things about me. I guess maybe a lot of them live off the money they make on ebay. No more for me.:-2

Why were they rude? Did you fail to pay them for a 99c item?

I've been on both sides. It cost the seller a fee to run each item and if you're selling a lot of stuff, that really adds up. Many people do use eBay as their second or only income. If you don't pay then you get bad feedback. Is that what happened?

I'm back on eBay after about a year.

I've said these words before..

Ebay gets me in trouble. See, I like to win. I go there with the intentions of coming out cheap, but then I don't want to be out bid so I keep going and going and going and then I'm like... DAMN, WHY AM I PAYING $50 for something that only cost $25 at the store?!?!?!?! :-5

I'm better off just going to target. le sigh

Well Ebay, is a sore subject with me. I had 3 friends that all bought their beautiful "cars" on Ebay! I saw each one of them get these mint looking beautiful cars, and all at thousands of dollars less that at local car dealers. So after seeing that, 3 times in a row, against my better judgement, I went on Ebay looked at over 35 pictures of this beautiful car and I wound up buying it. This beautiful car supposedly had only "28,000 miles on it! (just barely broken in) I sent the dealer a $1,000 deposit to hold it for me till I got to Florida where he was. I was going to Florida anyway in 3 weeks on vacation, so I would finally see the car in person. Low and behold when I got there and saw this car, I was in total shock! Every picture was carefully taken to omit the many flaws on this car! Not only was the body on the car in bad shape, the engine was in bad shape as well. The service engine light was on, the A/C didn't work, most of the power options didn't work, the interior lights didn't work, oil was burning/smoking from the tail pipe, I could go on and on, but this is already too long. The car had to have more like 228,000 miles on it rather then the advertised 28,000!!! After much robust discussion with the dealer, he finally refunded my $1,000 deposit! LUCKY ME!

So "buyer beware" is a very true wise statement! Especially with sight unseen items!!!

Well that was part of the refund agreement, that I would not post a negative input against his business. He told me that he was not aware just how bad the car really was untill I showed him all the problems! BS! But he also told me he was not going to post that car back on Ebay, he was going to junk/sell it privately!

Seems you were lucky also, to get 3 cars as advertised!

Well I am back on it. What I did was retract a bid for an item 99 cents. The seller wrote to ebay that I was "combative".

Anyone that has the time to write a comment over .99 cents; especially using the word "combative" is in a bad, bad place.

Or anyone that would retract a bid for .99 cents!

I dont think e-bay in the states is different from the UK but in the UK you only get to leave feedback if you've sold or bought an item and not if you retract a bid.

She's doing alright, then. To me, though, e-bay is not the place to go shopping for a bargain. It's got far, far too big with just one concern holding the monopoly. Far better to go to one of the smaller auction sites - auction1.com being an example. Or better still visit boot sales, but be selective and buy items only from genuine bootsaler, and not commercial enterprises where they might have thirty or forty stalls set up. Most punters are fiercely loyal to genuine boot sale holders, who pitch their table buy their car and hope for the best. I walk straight past commercial set ups because they are killing the boot sale market. Many of the advertised boot sales are little more than glorified markets with people screaming their wares( "Come on ladies, get you teeth into our avocados, paand a paand.") If I'm buying a spade, I will happily pay half as much again from a genuine boot saler, rather than from a commercial set up. As I said, be selective and then advertise it for sale in the local paper. You'll be surprised at the response. Aim for a mark-up profit of 150%. Also try public auctions, but don't over-bid. Remember it's the auctioneer's business to get people worked up and end up paying way over the top for stuff they don't even want.
