Last night I went down to my shed to feed the guinea pig which we got for our kids almost 7 years ago, and she was stiff and cold. She had moved on to guinea pig heaven.

It is not like it was a ‘real pet’, I mean you don’t take them for walks, they don’t fetch, they don’t curl up at your feet or anything. They mostly just eat and schyte, but still it is sad to see an animal that you cared about for 7 years die. I will need to find a place to burry it today. I understand that 7 years is a good life for a guinea pig, they only usually live 3-4 years, so she did well.

I'm very sorry to hear of her passing. Of course she was a real pet. She was loved and I'm sure gave you guys a lot of happy times.

I can sure understand that. I remember when my two hamsters died. Not at the same time but a year apart. Finding them like that upset me greatly. I was really attached to the little guys.

Talk them out of it! They will look at them for a few days beacause they are 'cute', the once they find that they have no trouble peeing and poop'n on you they won't want to hold them anymore. Then you will spend the next number of years cleaning it's hutch, feeding it, and wondering why you ever let them talk you into getting it in the first place. Trust me, seven years experience.

well you did a good job buddy seven years could be a record





i might just buy her a cuddly toy put it in a cage go to the fields near where we live and get some rabbit poop twice a week and throw it in there :wah::wah:

I have a perfectly good hutch that is no longer in use, do you want it? Built it myself, almost half the size of my shed!

can't say I'm a pet lover, havin said that I've locked on to my wife ragdoll cat and enjoy havin him round!

Guinea pigs don't do much? I don't do much either, but my wife still wants me!:D

My mate, who had a mad sense of humour, worked for a time in a bird sanctuary which looked after injured and unwanted birds. They also ran a boarding service where owners would leave their birds before going off on holiday. He homed in on one particular parrot as soon as it's owners had dropped it off.

"This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed at home, this little piggy went oink, oink, oink, I can't find my way home!" He kept it up for the full two weeks until it knew it parrot fashion (no pun intended). It belonged to a Jewish couple!:wah:
