Help me find my happy place...

My heart is one of a nomad (no, not the Mr. Nomad ;)) Constantly, I find myself daydreaming of where I want to live next. It has to be a mild climate and a progressive & informed culture. We also like to do things outdoors, which is very limited in Memphis. I want mountains, lakes, rivers, forrests, AND the ocean.

Help me. The Southwest sounds great. Josh won't live in CA, as he believes it will soon fall into the ocean (yes, I am serious, its ridiculous). The southeast also is appealing.

Did I say help? Because I meant HELP!

Where has been your favorite spot to live?

Lets see how do I put this. You did not bombard me with craziness. I read the thread title and thought too myself, Hmm I know where my wifes happy place is, I assume hers should be close to the same spot.:wah:

Well that, sir, is not something a lady discusses in public. I am, afterall, a southern belle.

sheesh.

California will never fall into the ocean. It has all the things you mentioned you wanted, it is a great option. I lived there 45 years, can't wait to go back. It is boring in the East..................

tell me about it. Actually, tell HIM about it. I don't understand. He is the most level headed logical person I have ever met. I guess, if the exception proves the rule, his exception is his theory on CA.

Achill Island off the west coast of Co Mayo in Ireland, lovely so it is. London is pretty cool is you have a load of cash I guess, Dublin, not really into that place any more. But Ireland overall, not bad I reckon! :-6

Louisiana's not so bad, but your requirement for a mild climate is totally out of the window here, unless you adore dripping humidity

What you described is Washington and Oregon

Ever considered either?

I'll tell you like I told Beth; try staying put, seriously. I've moved more than I even want to think about. All it has done is screw sh!t up. If you feel like you have to then try Boise. No beaches, but there are plenty of Mountains, alkes, rivers, and the like. Cost of living is failry inexpensive. The income is better than Memphis and the living costs are cheaper. Browse Craig's list.

dat no happy place. dat baaaaaaad place.

PLAICE (Pleuronectes platessa) The Plaice has pronounced red or orange spots on its body and a white underside. The Plaice can be found around most of the british coast line and prefers shell-grit or sandy bottoms and can usually be found near mussel beds. These fish are normally captured casting at long range from the shore. Baits: ragworm, lugworm and will also except Peeler crab in Spring.

Boat Captured Plaice Record 10-03-08 Longa Sound Scotland H. Gardner 1974

Shore Captured Plaice Record 8-06-14 Southbourne Bournemouth R. W. Moore

Uh-oh...Jimbo's been Googling again.:wah:

A "happy place" is different for different people. I enjoy living in southeast Georgia, but when I was growing up, Chicago was my "happy place".

Southeast Georgia, atleast where I live, is pure country...small towns, alot of fields for crops, white tail deer appearing, the sound of doves and bobwhites, the smell of honeysuckle in the summer. The pace is slower and you do have time to stop and smell the coffee. I enjoy it especially during this time of my life. My hubbie was born and raised in Georgia and he is pure country too. He is a big part of my feelings for this place.............it is home.
