Tombstone, Spot & Koan can we have a sub forum where all the video threads of members & photo's of members can go together?

This would make it much easier to find all the stuff that goes up & the members seem to really enjoy the photo's & video's.

I'd seen it. I'm in horror at being picked out of the anonymous crowd. If it's a question which would benefit from discussion then truly, your best place to discuss it is here in public. If it needs none then the question's been raised in the right place, in the right form, all tickety-boo.The only reason it would be debated among the moderators is if it's a debateable request.

I suggest this becomes a moderator debatable request :D

Well, I made one. This thread is in the right place, though, it does have the right information, it's why "Official Forumgarden Area > Request A New Forum Here" exists.

Yeah, sure!

Here's how it works... you go to the Forum "Introductions" then to the subforum "Photos" and you post the video threads in the same forum as the photos.

Yes, I'm being cheeky.

Perhaps what you really want is to have certain threads pinned to the top of the forum?

Yes please Koan 'pinned' is exactly what i want. That way we have a place to go where we will find all the members video's & photo's together rather than everybody having to search.

I agree completely but we have a technical difficulty

The homepage ends up with all the pinned threads stuck to the top of the homepage new thread list. We'll have to see if Tombstone can do a little code fix so we can use the stick thread function more effectively

When you go to the video area, you will now see that the people catagory has a (sticky) in laymans terms - easy to find bit full of our member videos.

Rather than having to search through 40 threads in 6 months time to find the video's ta da they will be at the top of the people section, that place will not move. Good eh? :D

I dont think they have done it yet.

It may only be a virtual corner of reality to the less twisted among us, but I've just managed to make all the member videos sticky.

Eww.

Spot i notice that whilst playing on you tube the songs are fine, yet here they get broken up in places. Is that due to the server here or should i give you the embeded links again?

Is that due to the server here or should i give you the embeded links again? It can have nothing to do with the ForumGarden server, the streaming doesn't go through it. I can think of a number of reasons but re-embedding the link won't change what's happening.

It's a difficult area to test. A video may get broken up in places for a number of reasons. The streaming server may temporarily overload processing requests. The streaming server internet connection bandwidth may become strained. The local internet route to the viewer might get sudden load imbalancing. None of that can be checked or changed by the viewer.

What can be changed is overloading on the viewer computer, but if what you're seeing is a difference between clicking on it in a ForumGarden page compared to a Youtube page (say) then the only overloading I can think it might be is processor speed. Your browser might be running a script component on ForumGarden that's soaking up so much of your processor time that the video has to wait for enough gaps. The way to check that is to temporarily turn off Java and Javascript permission and try watching it again. If switching that on and off consistently makes the video break up and run smoothly then tell us here, and we'll go into a very tight huddle and worry.
