A mayor security operation was activated at Ireland's Shannon Airport today for the stopover of US Vice President Dick Cheney on his way to Poland.

There had been some speculation that Mr Cheney would stay in the region a short time and possibly even meet with our Prime Minister, Berti Ahern or other senior government ministers.

An armour plated limousime and a fleet of Secret Service security vehicles were on hand for the visit.

Perhaps Mr Cheney will have a glass of our local brew Guinness. :-6
