Hi
My neighbour is bringing hedgehogs back to his garden after walking his dog. My concern is are they a protected species? and I worry about the young.

They aren't a protected species, at least not around here, and they are some of the hardiest little animals you can find. The young will be fine.

i was walking in the snow many years ago and found a poor little hedghog half frozen in the snow so i took of my hat and picked it up i banged on the door with my head as i could open the door while carrying the spiky fellow ,i told every one what i'd found and every was really excited as newspaper was put on the floor by the fire ,they all gathered round as i opened my hat to reveal not a hedgehog but an old broken loo brush :-5
boy every one just callapsed into fits of laughter :wah:
