Since we can't stick threads that are commonly used to the top of the forum without also sticking them to the homepage, I'm wondering if people would like to have an area to put threads that people want to use all the time.

Please exclude word games as they are currently well contained.

If we like this idea, perhaps Tombstone will create a place to put them.

You'd be able to nominate threads to place in the "favourite threads" forum and existing ones can be moved there.

You can merge any threads I started it makes no difference to me. Q: How long do threads stay around, is there a certain archive or someplace they are put after a certain time or are they here forever?

Could we have a random question thread. I was just about to start one asking if anyone knew where WW3 is, then thought better of it :-6

you are daft but I probably didn't explain myself well either. :D <--- smilie

I mean threads that everyone likes to use on a regular basis would all go into a special forum area that is called "Most Popular Threads" instead of in whatever forum they currently exist in. Then they are always easy to find and newbies can see what ridiculous things (like the butter thread) we spend our time chatting about... as well as understand all the in jokes that might crop up.

Silly question?

What benefit would it be to do this? By the very fact that they are popular and well used they will always be towards the top of the Today's Posts and New Posts lists anyway.

If fora have any point then isn't it more useful for them to be correctly categorised than lumped together.

What happens when they lose popularity? Who decides when to move them out of Most Popular Threads?

Me comfoooosed!

It was a subsequent thought of realising that we can't stick threads to the top of the forums without affecting the home page. I don't see the homepage much but then remembered that there is a box that shows the most active threads so we don't really need a forum for it.

But it's not a bad idea to use this thread to mention our favourites to the newbies who might not know things like why we laugh every time someone brings up butter. :D
