I was talking to a mate of mine he said he found it very hard to make friends ,I found this hard to believe ,I went in his local and within minutes he was introduced to loads of people and was having a laugh ,job done ,in this day and age do people really have trouble talking to other people ??? i have a big mouth and i'm always laughing for me its very easy ,when sue and i go out together we have to go to another town where no one knows us or every second is taken up with people coming up talking to us ,
i find it really sad that people are to afraid to talk to other people honest i do ,i mean what is the worst that can happen they wont like you and they wont talk to you ..... hello .... they are not talking to you anyway what you got to lose
jimbo's fool proof tips for making friends
1, if some comes into the pub ,office or where ever you are and they dont look up or talk ,just shake your head look away and mutter so they can hear you ,oooooow attitude , this never fails ,if they are a nice person they will smile and say something like ,ooh sorry i was a million miles away and they will start talking ,job done:D
if they are not a nice person they will just glare at you ,no problem here ,it saves you money on buying them a drink and wasting time making talking to someone with such an attitude any way :-6
oh be carefull not to try this on women with pms/pmt i have been threatened and actually slapped by more than one of these physco's

I find it ok to make friends, in clubs i always leave with more friends as i will talk to absolutley anyone when iv had a few, whereas normally id be scared they would be horrible back.
Though in everyday life if im on my own, id generally ask people for the time or how to get somewhere if i wanted to start talking to them, or if they come here often. Iv only ever had one person be funny with me when i try to talk to them, so odds are good!
xx

I will talk to anyone (:) ). Usually I will start nattering away and continue even if they seem not to want to talk too me. Usually they will warm up and start talking. Trouble is alot of time here (no other people with English accent), the people are so busy listening my accent, they actually aren't listening to what I'm saying. Then usually end up saying ..... sorry, could you repeat that.
Only occaisionally have they backed away, with me in hot pursuit. Do they really think diving into there cars and racing off at 100 mph will stop me - I just fly after them scream'ing 'TALK TO ME DAMN IT'

Doesn't help that I talk much too fast (ADHD or what!)

Okay, I have NO problem talking to people/strangers...matter of fact I've even sat down with perfect strangers in a resturant and eaten meals with them....I know this comes as a shock to everyone...I'm so quiet and shy on here and all!!:wah: :wah:
As to Pheasy and Jimbo about the Accent, I'm afraid I'd be one of those Yanks listening to your beautiful accent also!! I LOVE it!! After talking to Magenta and Dubs and Pinky on Skype I can tell the difference in the accents...but they are all so beautiful...:-4 (people and accents--btw)
Pheasy, I noticed that yours isn't as strong, but beautiful as well!!

Pinky and Neffy have very strong Southern accents - when I was conferencing calling with them I had to keep saying 'who said that'
My accent is a little confusing - comes from living in Canada as a child (for a while), and then moving all over UK before landing here in USA. And the fact I talk so fast :-3 :wah:

Ok Jimbo - It's confession time! I'm afraid I am one of those people who finds it hard to talk to someone..... (I can hear Pheasy and Wendy saying WHAT????? She doesn't shut up!!) If I'm in a situation where I'm out with a mixture of people that I do know and some that I don't - I can cope very well coz my friends do most of the talking. But if I'm in a group that I don't know - then I find it very difficult.
I am not one for being the centre of attention - I tend to sit back and listen to what people say.
Having said that - once I get to know people - there's no stopping me!!
I have to say - FG is bringing me out of my shell. I'm discovering that you gotta shout to be heard here

I'm very shy and usually find it hard to talk to strangers, so I pretend to be my alter-ego : Good old Unc. This happened at the last meet and a few folks didn't believe I was shy. Give it a go. We're all actors deep down.
