The USA gets set to play England in the Churchill Cup on May 18th...Which is about two weeks away...

This may be a testament to what's to come in the Rugby World Cup coming this fall, as the USA is in Group A with England...The USA will play England in their first group stage game on Sept 9th,..after the Churchill Cup...

Anyone here follow rugby?

Who else is going to be watching the Churchill Cup and the Rugby World Cup?

The Churchill cup has never really been publicised much here! This year though, it's in England for the first time, so I'm hoping to see the matches televised! It'll be interesting to see Canada and the US, styles of play, and as you say they can be useful lead-in games to the World Cup, in France. England are current holders of the World Cup, but if I'm honest, I cannot see us retaining it! The team that won four years ago, is almost gone, injury, retirements, coach changes, have contributed to us being a shadow of that side! It's only the last few months, that England have started to look cohesive again, much, much too late to prepare to defend the trophy! It's not all doom and gloom! I'll still be shouting my head off for my country! Looking forward to the Churchill Cup, and absolutely cannot wait for the World Cup.....I may have given that away, with my avatar!

I watched the England vs France game earlier today from the 6 nations cup...

Them beating France surely is enough to retain enough confidence in them to do well in any competition...

I've been checking espn and hadn't seen that they will be airing the Churchill Cup but I can't imagine that anything affiliated with the US national team in any sport won't be televised here...

But none the less I just downloaded SopCast and was able to view the Fulham game that just ended...

Man Dempsey is the man of the year for Fulham I think...It was a stalemate throughout the entire game until Dempsey came on...Less than ten minutes in he scores one that eventually is the game winner...

But I'll be looking forward to the Churchill Cup as it's not 3 months away like the World Cup is...

On a side note after I watched the England vs France 6 Nations Cup game I happened to catch an NRL game from Australia and the games looked totally different...

In the Australian NRL they seem to enforce some sort of rule where the entire line has to back up while only leaving two people in the scrum...I didn't like that style of play at all...It's as if they are allowing people to have a better opportunity in scoring and I think it sort of negates the entire point of the game...

Ah! You saw the two different codes of the same game! Rugby Union, is the fifteen a side game, which in theory is amateur, in reality they earn mega bucks, from sponsorship and the like! That's the World cup version!

The other game you saw, is Rugby League, which is the thirteen a side game, and is the professional version! there are lots of similarities, it's slightly faster paced. As you said they don't scrum much, they, on being tackled, kick the ball back between their legs to a team mate, and they can do this for five plays, before control hands over to their opponents! There's much made of "the sixth tackle", cos if they don't score off it, they've wasted their attack phase! Players switch codes between League and Union, both ways, on a regular basis! I prefer Rugby Union.

Oh ok...More of an American style format incorporated into the game of rugby...I'm assuming for scoring purposes...

To be honest, and coming from someone whos favorite sport is American football, I liked the International style rugby better...

The backing up just seemed too timid for a sport that can be catagorized as being one of the toughest in the world...

The USA vs England game kicks off at 7:45 EST (US) 1:45 (UK - I think...)

In any case it starts in about an hour...

If it's not being aired where you are you can try streaming it...

I stream alot of sports games here at www.myp2p.eu...

I don't know if they will be showing it...I would try and google alot about streaming...I've been able to get alot of premiership games through myp2p...

Well from my understanding they've already played that game...

Setanta Broadband is utterly pathetic...

They have the same match listed at two completely different times...

I'm canceling my subscription at the end of this month...

England won but I would have at least gotten the chance to see it...

Setanta is worthless...I'll be streaming games from now on...

USA played Scotland yesterday...Scotland won 13-9 but the USA seriously had a shot to win that game if it hadn't been for their constant inability to stay consistent...

The US had given up from what I had seen about 10 mistakes that could have been avoided if it weren't for simple fundamentals...

They didn't look all that bad but if they expect to beat the worlds best they just simply have to get better...
