Patching Painting
Patching Painting
Ive patched some holes, sanded and repainted a couple of areas. The fresh paint is leaving a gloss area that doesnt exist in the surrounding wall. The original coat of paint isnt very old so whats the deal ?

I'd try spraying the new paint with a "Flat Matte Clear Fixative" but I usually have that on hand. Don't know if it would work but it has saved a major catastrophe I had on some artwork.

There are hundreads of spakle products out there.... some are satin. some are opague. some in tubes.. some in guns, cans etc. Its the composition of the spackle that is giving you the problem, I believe

Perhaps the original was rollered several times, so the surface on your new stuff is dead flat and smooth and shows? The paint's the same, so it shouldn't be down to that...
