You could buy a towing bar.. for about twice the cost of a rope (less than £25),

It's far, far easier than being towed on a rope, and it comes in a nice little

bag about 800mm (2'8") long that goes in the boot. To use, connect it to

the towing vehicle, and the broken down one. The towing vehicle does all

the braking. The towed driver just needs to keep in line with the car in

front, and steer. That's it.

Hey Pink. Will the car turn over but just not start? Is the battery dead? If the battery won't turn it over anymore I would look at the altenator.

Did you try too jump start it? If it quit while driving and then the battery was low it sounds like the alternator. While the car is running it actually uses the alternator for its electricity. If the alternator goes out it will run awhile on the battery until it drains the battery then does not have enough current to run the engine. You may call it the generator across the pond.

ok pinky ,if the red light is on when it starts it either the fan belt which you must not i repeat not drive the car like that the water pump wont turn round so the water will not cool the engine = engine cooked very bad ,or as the wise ass said alternator gone = new alternator or the battery could of had it ,i know its hassel but i recomend get your car fixed before you chance long journeys mate ...... jimbo

if the red ignition light is on while the engine is running its either fan belt or alternater , if its not its probably the battery

Pink, if you guys can jump start your car, & it starts, then while it's running, disconnect one of the connections to the battery. If the engine dies out, it definately is the alternator that needs to be replaced. :wah: GOOD LUCK!;)

buddy some euro toy cars like we have over here if you break the circiut but taking off a battery terminal they just stop not all but just some , sorry not trying to nit pick but i'd hate the pinkster to go buy an alternator if she does not need to as i say not trying to nit pick buddy forgive the counter warning please:o

Could eff up lots of things, including losing radio/immobiliser codes, which are

expensive to retrieve from the manufacturer. I should be inclined to see what

the wise RAC man has to say!

You could have walked a couple or three miles in that time! However, if it

spluttered to a halt and refused to start again, that implies some sort of

fuel or electrical failure - if it would crank, then it's not 'cos the battery or

charging mechanism's bust (else the battery would be as flat as a trud and

it would not crank). So: What sort of car is it? Diesel/petrol?

Sorry to hear that pinky! If you lived closer, I would call my friend, He is a top machanic, he would fix it for you.

did it break down just after putting fuel in it ,you may have put deisel in it or dirty fuel



when it stopped did it splutter or just stop dead
