I am not very eloquent when it comes to writing, as you all have probably figured out by now.:(

I need to write a letter of a good friend of mine that is adopting an infant. I've known her for approx 7 years, and actually emailed her before I put this up there that I don't know the exact time frame. She is my neighbor and she has baby-sat my children off and on. She has had Foster children for years, but they are always temporary, this is permanent...This means a lot to her. She needs my letter by next Monday.

How do I put into words that I recommend this family to take care of an infant?

I just don't know where to start??

Would someone be willing to give me some help???

Close your eyes and summon up her good qualities. Then write them down in a sincere and thoughtful manner. Sincerity always comes through. Good luck.

Yes it is, it came as a suprise to me though. She has twin boys that just turned 12. I thought they were kind of done with having little ones. She emailed me and told me the news...so I was suprised, but happy for her.

Thanks again!

To (Whom It May Concern)

As (name's) neighbour for the last seven years, I have come to know her well. She has taken care of my own children and provided a nurturing environment for many foster children over the years. (Name) has proven herself to be a loving and devoted guardian, shows compassion and patience in the most trying times, and understands completely what a child needs to grow into a healthy adult.

I have no reservations calling (name) any time I need help with one of my children and she has always been open about asking for advice herself. I offer my support in her application to adopt as I fully believe that any child would be lucky to have a home such as she can provide.

If there are any further questions I can answer, please contact me.

Sincerely,

(your name)

short but to the point.

I expect to hear back how it's going for her.

I know adoptions can be really drawn out and painful at times. Best of luck to her.

Funny you should say that, I was just thinking of inviting her to come on here. I'm not sure if she would or not. She is busy baby-sitting children and trying to take care of her family. But I will suggest it. In the event she doesn't. I will be sure and tell you how its going.:)

It might be interesting for DG and anyone else considering adopting too. It's not as straight forward as people think.

I knew one couple who waited years and finally, right before the adoption went through, the mother changed her mind. It was horrible. I hope your friend's goes smoothly.

I have good friends that fostered (sp?) children and then adopted them (brother and sister from abusive homes). They were told that they can never have children and after about a year of having these two children, at the time ages were about 4 and 6ish (boy and girl). She became pregnant, after being told that she never would be able conceive. So, within 3 years they went from having 0children to 3.

I see them from time to time in town and what a happy family:-6

That's a great story.

She got the best of both worlds.

I think adopting an infant is harder. Unless you will take one from another country as well.
