I hope so. At this point, I would vote for the guy in a heartbeat based solely on how he took control of NY after it got blitzed. What I saw at that time is what I want my president to be like.

Despite what he did for NYC I don't think America is ready for him.

Remember our last balding President?

I'd sooner vote for the guy driving the train than H!!!! :wah: :D

I'm with RG, Rudy did himself proud after the 911 massacre. He displayed great leadership & took charge under extreme crisis.

So did President Bush! Remember his approval ratings? I like Rudy but this country doesn't care about how its leaders do in a crisis. We only care about our slice of the pie.

I agree with you - President Bush did step up - I can still see him with the megaphone - yelling "We can hear you".

I always thought that "I can hear you" was bogus. Like yeah, well you sure stopped listening since then, eh?

I do recall the two black guys in patriotic do-rags who volunteered to look for people and help out at the site of the blitz. When the one guy told us there were dogs carrying off body parts, I thought "I want that guy for pesident!" Because what president would be that forthright? :-2

We've got a strong man who won't back down now! That's what everyone's crucifying him for.

Bush is not in the running, so. . . . .

Actually, He's not really "strong", he's just stubborn! He's proclaimed himself as the one & only "Decision Maker"! And he is not really listening to his military experts that differ with him, only the few who do agree with him.

And He's certainly not listening to the "people who elected him"!

President Bush may or may not be listening to advisors. The only ones we hear from are the ones who are angry because he listened to someone else. Here we are in a time in history never before experienced and everybody claims they know what should be done. Arm chair Quarterbacks everywhere know better than the one who has the information and is charged with making the decisions.

I saw Biden on TV yesterday saying all the goals in Iraq have been accomplished so it's time to get out. How interesting...it was just the other day he was saying the war was mismanaged, now all the goals have been accomplished. Sheesh!

Actually, it's the people who didn't elect him that he isn't listening to. The ones who did elect him are believers in a form of government that elects people to make the decisions called a Republic.

Also, Rudy has been accused of a lot of things as Mayor that sound a lot like the things President Bush has been accused of.

My point is that people may say they want a strong leader who won't back down, but in reality, they want a strong-looking representative who stays right there in that middle rut without upsetting folks too much.

It would be intresting to see, what info does Tony Blair have that GWB doesn't? Since TB feels he can start removing "his" troops, where GWB is "adding" troops!!! Seems like a major disconnect!

Yes, it does and I'm sure GWB and TB are both aware of how it looks. GWB has taken a bad political beating over this war but nothing compared to TB. It may be about living to fight another day. I don't know and I'm not going to read more into it than I can honestly say is there. I've spent too many years of my life doing what I believed was right with all the advice and counsel I could get only to have some guy who never attended a public meeting say I didn't know what I was doing. If that happens at the local level it can only be multiplied at the President's level.

I dont think hes electable based on his flamboyant tirades. Look seriously at the Democratic nominations. And I wouldnt be surprised to see Gore throw in, hes riding a wave of egocentricity after becoming part of the Hollywood crowd. I think hes serious about his cause but its not enough.

When it comes to electabiltiy I don't see much right now either. Rudy is all the Rs have as I see it and I think he will melt away once the heat starts to build. I don't think Hillary or Obama, who has a better chance than Hillary, will hold up either. Gore may end up the lucky dog who's weathy base, as extreme as it is, holds together well enough to get him through. And I may not be able to digest my lunch.

I'm surprised you didn't suggest any of the 8000 things Rudy did as a Mayor that disqualify him for hero status.

He ratcheted up racist tensions in NYC with blunt, incendiary rhetoric, among other things. He waged a strange war against sidewalk art vendors outside the Met. Museum of Art and wasted city money fighting a legal battle about it in the courts until the Federal courts ruled against him.

He routinely and knowingly violated the civil rights of NYC citizens (particularly the first amendment), spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal bills that could have been used for, say, public education, fighting these battles that he always lost.

He ruled NYC like a little Napoleon, often disregarding the good of the people to feed his little whims.

He went into business with Bernard Kerik -- and that was after giving him patronage job after patronage job. he almost succeeded in foisting Kerik off on us as the head of Homeland Security. (Could Kerik have done worse than Michael Chertoff? Look -- Kerik would have SOLD New Orleans to the highest bidder and told us he'd misplaced it.)

If you want someone who cares for the Constitution as little as George W. Bush in the White House, you would be hard pressed to find a better candidate than Rudy G. -- forget about his history with his marriage and the Church.

By the time things heat up between Rudy, Hilary, Obama

Edwards and Gore will fly thru the mud slinging.

Theres no way I'd consider Rudy or Hilary - I don't think either has a snowballs chance.
