We were sitting in the living room just talking & I told her to go in her room to change her clothes (its hot out) so She does & i come into the office to check mail and all that. All of a sudden she yells 'Mom Princess had a baby' Princess is our guinea pig that we didn't know was pregnant. I thought she was full of it so I said 'No way Tiff, we only have one and she can't be pregnant' I got up went in there and sure enough there was a small hairy guinea pig in the cage next to Mama in their house. Princess only had one. I called the vet & asked if I could come in to make sure mom and baby are both ok.. Yep clean bill of health=] As soon as I find the hook-up for my digi then I will post a picture of mom and baby.. :-4

Wow, another immaculate conception! :p :D :wah:

Nice, aren't they! Wheet, wheeet, wheeeet!!!

Make sure that the young 'un is NOT male, or in a month or so a dastardly deed

will be done, and you'll get another litter!

By the way, be very careful how you handle these. Especially with young guinea

pigs, if you pick them up by their tails, their eyes can fall out.

HTH.

Oh yeah they sound like something from outer space would sound.. lol

I love these little things... they're very social, fairly bomb-proof, characterful,

and seem to possess quizzical/comical expressions. The sound effects (inc.

the chuntering and Wheet! Wheeeeet! calls) are as you say. Have you got

short-haired (sometimes called smooth, or English, these always look surprised

or shocked to me!), Peruvian, or Abyssinian, or whatnot?

Same thing happened in our house.. 17 years ago. I brought home 2 female gerbils. Didnt want babies. My 5 year old son woke me up saying " The gerbils had babies" I groggily replied " Go count them" " There are 7 mom!!"

And yes, there were 7. One female evidently was pregnant when we brought her home. All of the little fur ball creatures are quite adorable. I think their helplessness makes them even more adorable. Congratulations.
