The courts have agreed he was wrongly arrested for cursing....the arrest violated his freedom of speech.

Am I the only one who suspects there's a LOT more to this story than we read in the news?

The bloke said "goddam". Rather a peculiar turn of phrase, really, most un-
common. What if he'd effed and blinded? Summarily shot?!

But if it is a judgement call..is it the officer's to make? I mean, I find serious cursing personally offensive, but if I were a police officer, could I arrest someone because they offended me?
I guess if it were in public, it could be a disturbing the peace violation.

I thought the US had freedom of speech.

Would it have been blasphemy if I had said it?
If it helps, I am not Christian, Jewish, Mohammedan, Hindu or Jedi - I am a heathen.

I wasn't serious about that BLASPHEMY comment, Chookie. Of course we have freedom of speech here. That's why he was released. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the lawsuit...if it ever gets to court.
