Just one question...you ARE planning on FLYING and not SAILING ON YOUR OWN BOAT, right? ;)

Why should you go to Australia? (How much time do you have?) Why should we ever leave this country and experience new surroundings, people, cultures, and history?

So we can expand our souls....make new friends....eat life! Australia has wonderful scenery and wildlife unlike anything here! What would happen if you didn't go? You'd miss all that and probably wonder the rest of your life why you didn't do it when you had the chance!

Every Australian I've ever met has been friendly and charming and I suspect they'd be as welcoming as could be!

Well I certainly can't find a reason not to do it. 'Cept my son thinks it's all spiders, snakes, and crocs. Damn Steve Irwin.

I'll convince him yet. You'll see.

Ha! I'm from NJ and have been in FL for 18 years. It's noy about a dream or even happiness. For me it's about leaving the rat race. A quieter lifestyle would be good for my beat up heart. Too much stress and crap and idjuts here. Not that Aus wouldn't have it's share of idiots, but, from what it's citizens are saying, it ain't so bad. :)

I've travelled a lot, and lived in a lot of other countries, and none even come close to Australia.

You should do it.

We don't sleep with guns under our bed, some of us still leave our doors unlocked at night.

We know our neighbours and most of the time we actually like them!

We have beautiful beaches, and beautiful rainforests, and they're all free to use!

You don't have to tip someone or put a coin in a booth to take a pee in a public toilet (very important as we age) . :wah:

We have some of the best Beer and Wine made anywhere in the world. No, Fosters does not count!

We call prawns prawns. Shrimp are about 5millimetres long for the record.

We'll help you learn the lingo so we stop laughing at you eventually.

We make fun of ourselves, as well as everyone else.

We have true freedom, the government can not read your mail.

We have mild winters and hot summers.

We work for a living we don't live to work. Mostly.

We get paid a good wage for a good days work.

We get 4 weeks (minimum) paid vacation time a year.

We get 10 days (minimum) paid sick leave a year.

We get paid Long Service Leave after 5, 10, 15, 20 (etc) years service with the same employer, to the point where you could take a year off and get paid for it.

We get paternity, maternity, carers, personal leave (paid) should we need it.

The only thing we don't have plenty of right now is, unfortunately, water.

Could you bring some with you?

JacksDad...

I have lived in Melbourne, Fl and I've been to Melbourne, Australia.

Having qualified myself, I will say that I want to go back desperately and seriously considered moving out there myself. Still considering it. Maybe finishing school up at Melbourne uni, even.

I actually have this fantasy of getting a little seaside home in Lorne. That great ocean road! There's nothing like that drive. *sigh*
