Hey guys and gals, what do you think of my pic?

This is a little church in Cork that I took a picture of and I gimped it up a bit. Do you like it?

Yes I like it. Perhaps you have overdone it a tad, but the general effect is good.

Have tried the Gimp, but I always come back to an early photo program. I suppose it is familiarity, but I find it so easy to use. It is version 2, whereas they are now on version 8, and it's nothing like the one I have.

However, it's not the editing program that matters - it's the end result.

It's my first one. It's maybe a bit too yellow :-3

I must keep practising :D

Thanks for the feedback.

Thats lovely JS, it looks a bit like Kylemore Abbey in Galway as well, but I have never heard of gimping a picture, I suppose it means enhancing it, well I quite like what you have done. If you have more pics from around cork let us see em, its a part of the country I don't know so well! :-6

Gimping is my personal slang for editing using the Gimp software.

Here's another one that hasn't been gimped yet.

It worked fine JS. I sometimes use gimp myself, but there are other photo editing programs and it's all about finding one which you are comfortable using.

If you look at them side by side they look like a winter and autumn shot.

I love to restore old photographs, old cracked, faded and torn ones. The worse the condition, the more of a challenge I find it. I use a couple of programs, Micrografx picture publisher, which is getting on a bit now, but I like to use it for the ground work, such as cloning torn or cracked areas and basic colour enhancement. Afterwards I move the picture into my all singing, all dancing, Paint shop pro X, which gives me lots of shiny twiddley bits to mess with. I'll see if I can put my last project up for you to see....I'm going to try the Gimp Jenny, to see if it has any tools I can use...:D

You m'lady are a born gimp. ;)

Too many are afraid of it. Never give up.

I use Photoshop at work and gimp at home and I find gimp more open to creativity.

Jenny :)

You've made the colors so lush and intense

I feel like I could 'touch' them and smell their beautiful scent :-6

I downloaded the latest version,..I believe it's 2.2.13 or something like that...

Was wondering if anyone could tell me if it were possible to merge two photos together, and then sort of blend them both..sort of like an illusion?

I'm impatient...but I did download it right before I went to bed so I didn't really have time to look at all of it...

I will though, thanks for telling me. I wanted to know before I waisted my time reading through everything, only to find out it's no different than paintshop.
