I miss the innocence...and kind hearted people...not that I grew up in Mayberry....
But it did seem like a more peaceful time, especially Christmas time, just seemed more genuine...my memories of Childhood Christmas's are wonderful...and want the same for my children....when they were little, I would exhaust myself to make sure they had happy Christmas memories...I really hope they do...
I miss the "trust", seemed like when I was growing up, you could trust people, not everyone of course, but just seems that I run into more "liars and scam artists" the older I get...and would really be nice to not have to deal with that!:-5

i miss the fact that when i was a kid i could bolt down some cereal then go out playing in the woods all day till it got dark or i got hungry which ever happened first now of course you cant even take your eyes off of a child not even for a second or else they could be gone
oh i also miss jacky samways she was just a godess she had golden hair and massive boobs and although i was like a living stick insect and even less pleasing on the eye than i am now she was always so very very nice to me , thanks for that jacky where ever you are you have no idea how happy you made me ... come to think of it she kinda reminds me of sue now :-4 :-4

Prowling and exploring around the woods on Chincoteague Island. Climbing trees. Running like the wind. Innocence.

I so agree with you
I miss the small mom & pop store - where I'd have a nickle, run to that corner store a few blocks away and everyone new your name.
As I got older I could go to the neighborhood bar and everyone new your name. I guess thats why I like the theme song from Cheers
I'd like to re- capture the free unworried spirit - where now you worry about everything.

WONDERWENDY...we lived on Chincoteague island for awhile when it was a Navy base, back in the dawn of time. What a place it was! (Of course, those famous "ponies" are REALLY mosquitos!)

When I was 12 there was a girl named Lee in my class at school who was my "girlfriend" for a short time. I bumped into her briefly about 15 years ago, then again 4 and 2 years ago. She recently contacted me, so now 34 years on, we have just started "seeing" each other.

:wah: I know...only unpleasant memory of that place...I would love to live near there, probably not ON the Island...but just a peaceful place...even in 2000...only went there in 1993 and 2000, and both times my stay was cut short, first by hurricane and then second by rain storms...
I thought of another good memory...walking in the woods eating hunny-suckle off the vine...
My son and I went for a walk in the woods yesterday, well we were chasing dogs...which we never found, but I thought about when I was a kid...always ran through the woods, I didn't let my 12 year old go in daylight without me!! Very sad!!

Not a single thing. I have a fantastic husband, an amazing son, I have the best friends ever in my Bullet's old MC, (one of whom just left after visiting for a couple hours) and while both Bullet and I came real close to being killed recently, we are still here, together, loving each other and our family and friends. I wouldn't go back for a million dollars.
