Bad news - but better to know about it and take the advise than carry on in ignorance.

Best of luck

:wah: I can just imagine you and Suzy mincing around the store. You crack me up Jimbo!

But seriously, I've never been much of a drinker so I probably can't be of much help. Are you looking for new hobbies, that type of thing, something to get involved with? Have you ever thought of volunteering at a YMCA or a Boys & Girls Club? You'd be great at that, I bet. I wish you well on this and I'm glad to see you're back!! :)

Sounds familiar mate... time marches ever onwards :-2

I now recognise some of the things in my relationship with carrie that I used to laugh at when I saw other couples :wah:

Good to see you, as for the drinking - just do what the doc says.

Sometimes the atmosphere of the pub is enough without the booze - and the superior feeling that knowing your mates will feel like poo the next day and you won't!!

As for the drinking. Did doc tell to you to completely stop?

Graeme and I decided this year to cut back on the booze after we forgot to put the recycle bin out so had to take all the bottles and cans from over the holidays to the recycle park instead.

It took us flippin AGES! There were so many bottles and cans it was embarrassing!

So now we have agreed that it is no alcohol on a "work night" lol. We can only have a drink on Friday or Saturday nights. It's a start....................

It is strange though - we are so used to just grabbing a glass of wine with dinner and then after dinner and asometimes another later in the evening. But it all adds up and now we KNOW just how muuch we were drinking we have had to change the habit.

Moderation is the key I think

her exact words were if you want to see you children grow up dont ever drink again ...stop drinking or the drinking will stop you:-3

they said that 2 years ago so i got an extra 2 years oliver reeding but i've stopped totally now though :D

The back is bad , I just stay medicated most of the time. I probable will not go back to the job I was doing, because I will hurt it more. At this time doctor said I am 100% disabled. Said I need rest, surgery was only a month ago. Seems to be getting worst instead of better. Oh well, not much I can do but get an atorney. You will do great on your drinking, I stopped almost two years ago. I used to drink alot.(vodkaa). Hard at first but you can do it. Nice to see you again.

hey jimbo lad, I rarely drink at all any more actually, but I used to in my 20s a lot (I am Irish after all, a nation of famous alcos so they say), but I found as I was getting a bit older it wasn't doing me any good, and I wasn't really enjoying myself. Its my experience that life with little or no drink is actually great, its of course much cheaper, you tend to do far more interesting things than just sit in a pub with the usual suspects, and your general happiness and health improve vastly. It is a bit hard to have to give it up "completely" but you know, its only flippin drink, you don't need a drink to stay alive and you can live quite happily without it, in fact in general for anyone life is generally better when they partake less in anything (expcet water of course, cause you can't live without that). What I am trying (and failing to do at the moment, I admit) is give up the fags, now that is hard, much more difficult than giving up booze in my opinion, but then different strokes. But seriously if your doc has told you to give it up, you will have to do it, you seem like a good man, I am sure you will, and don't worry too much about it, you wont really be missing anything, its just that from a young age in Britain and Ireland our social lives tend to revolve around the boozer, but you can still have fun and not get pissed, it just takes a bit of a physcological rethink. After a while sitting in the pub doesn't seem as interesting any more anyway. Also, it means you can drive home as well, which is handy for when you do go out. :)

Ground Force, that's the one. Is is still on there? I've seen it on cable here.

Tommy Walsh - and he's got his own programme now that Ground Force is finished.

We get so many repeats of Ground Force from the first episode....they'll go on for years I guess. There's one satellite channel over here just dedicated to gardening programmes...I love it....but I'm nuts on gardening.

If you ever get 'A year in the life of Kew Gardens' over there and you like that sort of thing then DO watch it.....you'll enjoy.
