Little Poem

Hello! Thought I'd post one of the most recent ones I wrote.

I started writing poetry when I was about 12 years old, I guess. I didn't have anyone to talk to about things that went on in my head, or in life..and so I started writing it all down to get it out..and it started to rhyme..:o

Anyway..here is one for you to read. :)

Forever in a moment,

I found you softly call¦

And in your eyes I faltered,

Swiftly still did fall;

In love beyond all wakening

And everyday since then¦

Consumed inside our destiny,

Our future brightly when;

You shall be my husband

And I shall be your wife,

Hand in hand we walk beside

Together now, one life.

Forever in a moment

Our love shall carry through

In joy and in shadow,

My heart belongs to you.

No it's not bad, I think it's great

Your ever passionate will to find your soul mate;

A beautiful mind expressed as divine on such a date

Could mean only one thing, that of fate, but I think the reason no ones replied, is quite simply it's rather late. ;)

I especially like the part about "swiftly still did fall." It reminds me of older poetry that has that special language of its own. You know, when you don't speak the same way as you write.

So Delilah, what poets inspire you? Do you have favorites?

:)

Aww, thank you Red. :o

I love Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Poe. A bunch, really.

My absolute favorite poem is probably this one by Emily Dickinson:

Hope is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune--without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;

Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

How about you Red? Do you have any favorites?

Very talented Delilah. Has a nice flow.

Our Pinky is a little poet too, you'll probably get on well with her, but be warned, she makes pig noises when she laughs :D

I think your really talented, whenever i try to write a poem i have to sit with the dictionary to find ryhming words, it doesn't matter if it makes sense, it just has to rhyme, hence why you'll never see my poetry posted :-5 :D

I do snort now and again, but it's the actual laugh that people find funny!

Anyway, Nice poem!
