I've taken it, I don't think there's as much of a stigma in the UK this last fifteen years and I've known more people with the infection than is easy to cope with. Anything that drags down the barrier between those who don't know and want at all costs to avoid contact, and those who do know the underlying risks, is essential, and South Africa (along with far too many other parts of the world) is scared and discriminatory for all the wrong reasons. Keeping children out of schools is the worst aspect of HIV that I can think of. There's nothing about this project that I don't actively admire.

Everyone who's had sex or any medical treatments should have this test. Because I give blood and platelets regularly, I get tested several times a year, it seems. It's insurance, really.

In England blood donated is tested but the result's not passed back to the donor. Nobody gets told the result professionally here without having asked to know and had counselling first.
