Poor judgement all around.

"...What was believed to be a pit bull terrier...."

So they don't even know for sure? They just kneejerked and offed the dog is my guess.

There are reasons these little kids between 2 and 6 get damaged and it's often not the dog's fault. These stories burn me up. Where were the parents?

I am about 12 seconds away from finding 50 stories about pit bulls who are great pets and live with children. There's only about 109,000 out there so 50 should be easy.

if you have this type of dog you should be careful

thats why they are banned in uk

dogs breed as guard dogs some times dont make such good pets
Wrong, wrong, wrong. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with the breed, it has to do with the OWNERS.

Breed-banning is just as stupid and wrong as the owners who have propegated this ignorance.

BR has a point...if Pits were the ONLY dogs to have mauled people, then there would be some issue here. But other dogs bite too.

A neighbor down the road has two pits. I am personally cautious of any dogs...due to having been bitten when I was younger...so I often will steer clear..which bugged the guy at first, if he saw me back off when he was walking them. He was fin after I explained. It just takes me a while to warm up to any dog bigger than a chahuahua or poodle.
