What I used to know as "potato chips" and now must refer to as "crisps" have recently caused me some trauma. I dared to enter the crisp aisle in England and I.... (shudder) saw something called "Lamb & Mint". I thought perhaps I had a fever and turned around to see another bag claiming to be "Brie and Cranberry". Are these really potato chips? How am I supposed to eat these or serve them to a child?

This might be another culture shock moment.

Hmmm. You should go into an asian store..they have some crispy looking things that are allegedly flavored like shrimp and cuttlefish. I would take the brie and cranberry over cuttlefish any day.

I saw some Pringles but the packs looked like they only had one chip in them

I avoid the ..mmmm...exotic flavours....prefer Plain, Marmite, or go for the 'kettles' make of crisps...Black Pepper and Sea salt. Good Luck Koan...the crisp Aisle is to be avoided...just grab the Plain ones and 'get out of there' !

And here I thought everyone from the U.K. called them crisps.

I remember in the '80s you could buy Hedgehog flavour crisps, but they were very similar to roast chicken.

You have no idea how tempting that is. But I'd just be setting myself up. Can imagine what it would be like on the last real bag of chips, knowing what I had to return to? No sense stringing myself along.

I've started to think some people eat crisps for dinner. That could be why they are flavoured like meals?

Well, you could go for tortilla chips and make them yourself. With some nice homemade salsa, that should be quite yummy.

Koan, I had to learn to make my own food here if I wanted it. Not a decent Mexican restaurant on the whole Chesapeake Bay. I just ended up cooking it the way I was taught, and enjoy the look on the check-out peoples face when my items go through the register.

There's something wrong with the crisps. Not just the flavours. I woke up this morning and looked like this:

Yeah, I remember these! :wah:

I like roast chicken crisps, I thought these were much stronger and beefier than chicken flavour - kinda like how you'd imagine hedgehogs really would taste! :p :wah:

How do they know what hedgehog tastes like? Is this a delicacy I've not encountered yet?

:wah: Those people are just off their rocker

The brain-donor kids who live by me just OD on sugar all day long by drinking gallons of pop and their staple diet is primarily multiple bags of crisps. The forensic evidence to substantiate my claim is that the bottles and empty bags are usually discarded on my front drive. Dietary analysis leads me to an expectation that they may not outlive their parents. I bet they've got Cheesy Wotsits too :rolleyes:
