Has he any idea of what the day holds for him or are you keeping it quiet?

Thanks for fixing him, PomPom. I love people who neuter their pets! No homeless kitties from this little guy! ;)

I hope he will be feeling better in no time. :-4

It may or may not calm him down some, depending on if that was what caused his aggression. Give it a couple months to tell as even after neutering it takes a while for testosterone to fully leave.

It will keep him a kitten to his last day! We had our little outlaw nipped when he was 6 months old. Makes them cuddly babies forever! And home lads! (we still havent told him!) LOL! And he loves us just fine. :-4

Clyde is on the left. Bonnie is on the right.

Pretty kitties, Raven! And Teddy just looks a sweetheart :D

My two are fixed - unless the pet is going to be used for breeding, IMO, they should always be fixed. One, my elderly black tuxedo-ed fellow (all black with a white spot that looks like a shirtfront on his chest) was obtained from a friend. He was taken to the vet for snipping the moment he was old enough. When I went to pick him up I heard the most godawful yowling from the back room. I thought that someone had caught a feral cat and turned it over to the vet, and commented that I was glad that noise wasn't coming from my little bundle of joy. The receptionist looked at the records she had lying there on her desk, and then up at me, and said, "Wanna bet?" Turns out the puss channeling Damien was indeed my own. The nurse brought him out of the back room clamped tightly under her left arm, with her left hand holding his front legs, and her right hand holding his chin. He wasn't quite out from under the anesthetic yet, so she was taking no chances. When I got him home, I put him in his favorite spot by the big window so he could see what was going on. He didn't move for a day and a half, and didn't speak to me for a week after that.

My other little spitfire was a rescue quite literally off the street. She almost got run over, so I picked her up, looked into that little face, and was a goner. Took her straight to the vet so I could be sure she wasn't carrying anything home to my other one, and got her altered as soon as the vet thought she was old enough, as well. Didn't seem to bother her, although she had to have a "lampshade" collar to keep from chewing out her stitches, the little minx.

LOL! It's funny about pets. They become such an integral part of your life! My two are brother and sister, from the same litter. Hence the snipping. We will be having none of that in THIS house, thank you very much! But since Bonnie is allergic to fleas, (godawful rash she got!) Both are very much house puddings. But they are happy. And we love them to bits!

Your Teddy looks EXACTLY like my MeMe! (That name reflects her general attitude about life.) And Raven, I've a "tuxedo" cat, as well. They're such fun to watch!

How IS "the devil" today?

I absolutely adore my two moggies! And Clyde has that white muzzle as well. He looks like a 'sylvester'. LOL! And he acts just like a cartoon sometimes!

Pom this should work out very nicely for you. If I could ask you a couple things? How old is the big guy? What sort of food is he on? I had my 13 year old Monster spayed the minute he was old enough. He's also afraid of me. HAHA!!!

Any advice re his aggression welcome! He's totally adorable too and I think the "aggression" is probably over-enthusiastic playfulness.? (I'm ok with it, it's when I have visitors...:o)
Aw he is still a baby! Clyde was getting bitey right before we got him sorted. You will see.......he will be such a sweet baby! And if his playfulness is okay with you, then it should be okay with everyone who comes over! After all, it's HIS house too!

I promise he will calm down. It's just the tom thing. And since you just got that sorted, it should calm him a bit. Do you let him out?

It could also simply be the kind of kitty baby he is. He could just be the playful sort! But the older he gets the more he will settle down. Eventually he will be a bedhead like them all!

How the hell did I screw up your name??? God my brain IS gone.

Okay....it could very well be excessive playfullness, but that sure as hell doesn't make it any more fun for your guests, does it? I've got some suggestions for you about curbing his meanness, the first of which would be to change his diet to ONLY dry biscuit. If there is one thing 99.9% of pet owners don't know or can't accept, it is that giving a large variety to the fur kids is not in their best interest. And to the people who say, "But WILD cats eat all kinds of different stuff!" which isn't quite accurate, either. Wild cats eat dead animals, mostly. And even if they did, how many people go out and feed wild cats? Try keeping your kid on plain dry cereal and water. The occassional treat is ok as long as he does something to earn it. You being the boss need to relegate your dominanace, by offering only limited types of food and again, only once he has done something to earn the food. Sounds cruel, I know, but animals need direction just like children do, and once his standing is determined and enforced, you will find his aggression disappear. Yes, seriously.

If it helps, go pick up a book on training a puppy and apply the rules to your cat. If you're having trouble, email me and we will determine some more concrete training, Yes, you can train cats! I've got my Monster trained to do several things.

I agree that you can train cats to a certain extent - I'd be interested to know what you've trained your "monster" to do! I've always thought that rules applying to dogs can't apply to cats, (not that I know very much about dogs) dogs being pack animals and cats being "loners" but I don't mind being wrong, especially if it prevents my guests being jumped on and mauled.:)

Thanks BR:-6
Anytime, Pom! What I have trained Monster to do is, come to his name, sit up on his big fat fanny, wave, shake, and somehow in all this training, he has become the loudest PURRER I have ever heard! He can actually wake me up when he gets rumbling when he sleeps on my bed!!

And normally, cat and dog training is very different and does not work for the "average" trainder, but it really is an easy thing to teach, as long as you remember the most important thing to keep in mind is CONSISTENCY.
