No Freeze here in Melbourne, 1/2 hr away from NASA.
SO far.. Launch is a go!
Kathy Winters, launch weather officer, has given Launch Director Mike Leinbach the latest weather briefing. The winds have "gone red" -- out of limits -- but, in her words, they are only "bumping the constraint." Winters believes it is still possible that the weather could be clear enough to allow the launch of Space Shuttle Discovery later this evening.
A cold front moving through the Central Florida area is producing a lingering blanket of clouds, gusting winds and isolated light rain. The team will press on with the countdown for now, in case the weather cooperates after all.
Space Shuttle Discovery continues to function normally and is ready for launch, currently scheduled for 9:35 p.m. EST.

it happens so often...people gather and wait all day. but of course the safety of the crew comes first. i think they get frustrated also when this happens. i hope they get a "go" again soon.

An orange and blue light emerges from behind the trees. It's huge. If you didn't know what it was you would be scared for your life.
There was so much power it almost seemed to struggle to get higher into the sky.
You could see the shape of the shuttle itself. The wings, the nose, but not the tail. That was just the orange fireball, forcing it upwards.
95% of the people at the river left after the STS flames began to fade.
I guess CSI is more important.
I stayed as the ship turned into what looked like a plane in the night sky.
White lights like you'd see on a 747 flying by at night.
Then she dropped her rockets.
I could see one falling into the ocean, red with heat.
I looked up and saw her fade into the heavens.
GodSpeed, ladies and gentlemen.
And ThankYou.

Oh, it was glorious to watch!
You must have been so proud to be standing there, watching her take flight!
Best wishes for our men and women on their journey into space.
