I am trying to generate post counts here ahaha no actually just trying to get some fresh topics out of my head onto the pages here....

Ok this is not about our dear member Accountable (just had to clear this up from the get go)

Ok besides common sense, accountability seems to be a lost freakin art.

Or is it just me?

How many of you find yourself scratching your head when someone tells you "it wasn't me"

And then how many of you wish you could do some serious A$$ kicking when you find out "oh yes it was YOU!"

Currently at my work a huge "shake up" is to happen, there will be the old ship up or ship out speach coming this Friday....

We have a new GM hired he has taken folks aside and asked them to prepare their wish list for the next year.... number 1 on my list is

"ACCOUNTABILITY" I am so sick and tired of "taking the blame" by people and having to go back and throw it into their faces that the error was in fact theirs.

Blatant in my face, bold lies of accusing me for their errors. How much more do I take.

If ya screwed up admit it, don't accuse others. Bottom line, be accountable for your actions.

At work they are fostering a no blame culture. Apparently it’s to allow people to own up to mistakes with out getting jumped on from the bosses. That way mistakes are spotted fast and fixed quickly to save a lot of problems down the line. Unfortunately in reality it means we have a lot of muppets going 'it was not my fault' and getting away with being incompetent because no one bothers to find out who messed up or how as it’s a no blame culture.

I like that, and we are similar here, but people still seem to think the lie is better,

By the time you lie you have made 2 mistakes right, the original mistake and now the lie... where is the sense in that.

I always am the first to say Oh heck I screwed up, I have a solution, I will fix it immediately.

I had an old boss who used to say

"don't come to me with a problem, come to me with the solution"

This iis excellent advice. I remember hearing it some time ago. I think that the idea is to settle with the liar first and then go to the boss with the solution. Great way to go. Too often we hold back just long enough that it is hard to find the lie and kill it.

A very wise and successful business man told me that line and I have always lived by it... let's face it humans make mistakes. Accept it, admit it, and correct it. And don't do it again.

Screw that. If I pinch a babe's rear end and she gets too mad, I didn't do it.

Minks...I understand what you're saying here. It's very depressing to see how the idea of personal responsibility has declined in our business and personal ethics. And it's depressing to see how the idea of personal resonsiblilty has declined in our lives.

If we're all honest, we can admit that we know what I'm talking about.
